About the Role

We are seeking an HR Manager to lead our Japan HR function and support the continued growth of our Tokyo office. This role oversees end-to-end HR operations, talent acquisition, employee development, performance processes, compensation support and the localization of global HR programs.

You will be a key advisor to the General Manager and work closely with regional and global HR teams to ensure that our people strategy is aligned, compliant and effective.

You will also supervise the General Affairs and basic IT coordination functions to maintain smooth office operations. This is a hands-on leadership role suited for someone who is strong in execution, confident in HR fundamentals and comfortable balancing strategic initiatives with day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

  • Lead hiring strategy and partner with hiring managers across all functions.
  • Manage job postings, screening, interviews and agency relationships.
  • Oversee a structured onboarding experience and ensure smooth transitions for new hires.
  • Implement workforce planning in line with business needs.

Performance & Employee Development

  • Manage and enhance the performance management cycle.
  • Identify capability gaps and drive the annual Learning & Development plan.
  • Support organizational changes, team restructuring and communication.
  • Provide guidance on employee relations and consult with external labor specialists when needed.

Compensation, Benefits & Compliance

  • Oversee payroll inputs, ensure accuracy of attendance and workflow data and partner with the labor consultant.
  • Maintain compliance with labor regulations, internal rules and corporate governance.
  • Evaluate and improve compensation and benefits programs.
  • Localize global HR systems (evaluations, benefits, HRIS) and ensure operational alignment.

HR Operations & Data Management

  • Maintain HR documentation, policies and procedures.
  • Prepare HR reports, labor cost analysis and headcount summaries.
  • Support audits and internal compliance requests.
  • Ensure consistent HR processes across teams and functions.

General Affairs & Office Operations

Office & Facility Management

  • Oversee office operations and facilities, working with building management.
  • Ensure workplace safety, cleanliness and an efficient office environment.
  • Manage procurement and vendor coordination.

Administrative Support

  • Supervise documentation, contract management and Board-related filings (Toki).
  • Handle domestic and international travel arrangements.
  • Support executive-level administrative needs when required.

T Coordination

  • Oversee basic IT support, device setup and troubleshooting.
  • Manage office systems such as printers, attendance systems and software tools.
  • Coordinate with global IT on upgrades, migrations and security standards.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 7+ years of experience across HR generalist or HR business partner roles.
  • Prior experience managing HR operations in Japan.
  • Experience in a multinational environment preferred.

Skills

  • Native or near-native Japanese; business-level English.
  • Strong understanding of Japanese labor law and HR compliance.
  • Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with HR data.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.
