Department Overview

In order to the Rakuten Group to continue to contribute to the empowerment of people and society as a global innovation company, the mission of the Human Resources Development Section is to promote the proactive growth of each and every employee by providing a platform for the development of employee competencies and skills based on the Rakuten Principle. To this end, we provide training and other services.

Experienced global HR development trainer to support the training and educational needs of company personnel both in Japan and overseas. Individual will provide training to new employees (company orientation), leaders (basic management skills, performance evaluation and feedback skills, etc.), and managers (global leadership development) mainly in Tokyo but some travelling will be required.

Position Details

By fulfilling the following work duties, you will engage in the planning, development, and management of human resource training programs for our employees.

Planning and development of the OFF-JT Program

Vendor management

OFF-JT Program delivering (selection and development of lecturers, pre and post training evaluations for participants, etc.)

Monitoring of OJT implementation

Planning and introduction of policies to promote OJT implementation

Management of Human Resource Development Department's budget, resources, issues, etc.

Implementation of stakeholder communication

Effectiveness measurement of developed program

Mandatory Qualifications:

Over 5 years experience in human resources departments of companies in Japan and/or overseas required (experience in human resource developments preferred). Candidates with equivalent experience in corporate planning, human resource consulting, or human resource development services will also be considered.

Training content development experience (instructional design)

Analytical and problem solving ability

Logical thinking, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills

Ability to use Excel (basic formulas, processing large amounts of data) and PowerPoint (creation of materials for use at company meetings)

Fluent in English and Japanese (Equivalent to TOEIC 800 above and JLPT N1)

Desired Qualifications:

Experience proactively assessing issues, considering and proposing solutions

Experience planning and implementing a human resource development program (training, etc.)

Experience achieving continuous improvement of a human resource development program through use of the PDCA cycle

Experience in selection/evaluation of training programs and vendors

Experience of promoting changes in the awareness and behavior of employees (change management)
