The Sales Manager is responsible for driving growth in sales through new business development and delivering exceptional service to clients. This role structures solutions and helps clients improve the quality and safety of their business performance by implementing internationally recognized standards.

This position reports to the Area Manager, Japan, and is part of the Japan management team. It forms part of the Business Assurance global sales network in DNV.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead the sales of certification and training business in DNV Business Assurance Japan.
  • Manage, motivate, and grow a high-performing team in Japan.
  • Drive sales, develop business relationships, establish, and maintain sales and business development strategies to meet sales targets and implement marketing initiatives.
  • In a proactive manner, approach targeted companies, identify, and generate business opportunities aligned with DNV services portfolio.
  • Develop a local network of partners (consultants, channels).
  • Foster relationships, negotiate, and conclude business contracts to achieve targets.
  • Participate in local communication actions (events, tradeshows, conferences, exhibitions, etc.).
  • Sustain existing customers' loyalty and drive recertification/retention of existing clients/customers by managing queries or requests to renegotiate terms and conditions for a successful outcome with DNV.
  • Contribute to the business plan related to sales and business development, conduct business reviews and forecasts, and ensure all opportunities are logged into the system for analysis and reporting.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of managerial experience in a Certification Body (CB).
  • Demonstrated experience in selling business-to-business services combined with QHSE risk management expertise will be an added advantage.
  • Strategic thinking and understanding of the competitive landscape in Japan.
  • Strong communication, presentation, verbal, and written skills in English and Japanese.
  • Experience in managing key accounts/customers and winning new clients.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship capabilities, ability to work remotely and as part of a team.
  • Ability to approach and convince decision-makers by listening to their expectations, understanding their stakes, and goals, and offering adapted/innovative/value-added solutions.
  • Relevant years of successful experience in selling B-to-B solutions and services is required.
  • Exhibits strong entrepreneurial and market developer mindset, dynamic, resilient, open to change, and flexible.
