The Opportunity
We are hiring a Human Resources Business Partner to lead HR in Japan. This is a newly created role, based in Tokyo with a hybrid schedule. You will own both strategic HR partnership and hands-on HR operations for our growing Japan business. This includes compliance, employee relations, performance enablement, and office management support. You will act as the primary HR point of contact for Japan, connecting local needs with our global HR function.
What You Will Do
- Partner closely with Japan leadership and the global HR team to align local HR practices with our global strategy and culture
- Manage HR operations in Japan including compliance, social insurance, HR data accuracy, payroll coordination, and vendor support
- Advise managers and employees on HR policies, performance, and employee relations
- Support talent acquisition, onboarding, and development planning
- Lead engagement initiatives that foster a positive, inclusive employee experience
- Maintain office logistics and coordinate administration needs with WeWork and other local vendors
- Contribute to regional HR projects such as policy updates, compensation reviews, and change management efforts
What You Bring
- Bachelor degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline
- 4 or more years of HR experience, including time in a HRBP or generalist role supporting local HR responsibilities
- Solid understanding of Japanese labor requirements and hands-on operational HR experience
- Confident communication skills in both Japanese and English
- Ability to manage competing priorities with strong attention to detail
- Comfortable working with HR systems and Microsoft Office tools
- Experience working in an international company is preferred
