What you'll do

As Product Owner / Product Consultant, you'll act as the functional authority and product owner for Mercury solutions serving the Japanese market. You'll combine Agile product ownership with hands-on customer-facing consulting, working closely with customers and internal teams to ensure Mercury delivers maximum value.

You'll play a critical role during implementation and beyond, translating customer needs into clear, prioritised backlog items while ensuring alignment with Mercury's global product strategy and best practices.

Here's what you can expect to be involved in:

  • Owning product requirements and functional design for Mercury solutions in Japan
  • Acting as Product Owner for Japan-specific and customer-driven enhancements
  • Working directly with customers to define business requirements, user journeys, and acceptance criteria
  • Translating customer and market needs into clear, actionable backlog items for Product and Engineering teams
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders on roadmap definition, sprint planning, and feature prioritisation
  • Providing functional leadership during implementation, UAT, go-live, and ongoing customer usage
  • Ensuring delivered functionality meets acceptance criteria and customer expectations
  • Supporting post-implementation optimisation, adoption, and continuous improvement
  • Feeding customer feedback and market insights into Mercury's wider product roadmap

What we're looking for

You'll be someone who enjoys working closely with customers, product, and delivery teams. You'll be comfortable balancing customer needs with scalable product design and best practice.

We're looking for:

  • Senior-level experience in product ownership, functional consulting, business analysis, or implementation roles
  • Hands-on experience working in Agile / Scrum environments
  • Strong ability to write clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications
  • Solid understanding of recruitment and staffing business processes
  • Confidence working directly with customers and internal delivery teams
  • Ability to balance customer-specific needs with long-term product strategy
  • Business-level fluency in both Japanese and English

Bonus points for:

  • Experience implementing CRM, ATS, or recruitment platforms
  • Experience acting as a Product Owner or Proxy Product Owner
  • Experience shaping or influencing SaaS product roadmaps
  • Exposure to Microsoft Dynamics 365 and/or the Microsoft Power Platform
  • Experience working in SaaS or professional services environments
