Position Overview:
Ahead Consulting is seeking a qualified Technical Business Analyst for investments-related projects within a small IT team in Tokyo. The Technical Business Analyst will collaborate with various stakeholders, including development and data teams, both locally and globally.
Required Skills:
- Documenting existing workflows in English by interviewing Japanese business user groups.
- Creating and reading data flow and architecture diagrams and documenting workflows.
- Breaking down large projects into smaller pieces and planning deliverables.
- Developing and supporting reports using BI tools and SQL extracts of the investment portfolio, with metrics such as book value/book yield, market value, credit ratings, and asset class breakdown.
- Managing and troubleshooting data discrepancies, coding SQL queries, and understanding data models and bitemporality.
- Performing QA testing, constructing, and coordinating production releases, and maintaining Confluence documentation.
- Leading and actively participating in meetings with stakeholders of various levels.
- Keeping track of issues in JIRA and managing sprint timelines.
- Coordinating with development and data teams in Tokyo and New York, and the production support team in India.
- Responding to incoming inquiries, actively following up, and leveraging global resources.
Desired Skills:
- Strong business analysis and project management skills.
- Self-sufficiency to manage time efficiently and make consistent progress towards targets.
- Ability to create detailed business requirements and functional specifications.
- Experience with investment data such as positions, transactions, market data, and OMS.
- Experience or interest in finding and resolving data discrepancies.
- Proficiency in SQL query coding, troubleshooting, and data analysis.
- Experience with data modeling, data warehouse, ETL, and Snowflake.
- Familiarity with general programming, testing, and asset management industry (knowledge of Fixed Income and Accounting is a plus).
- Experience with QlikSense or other business intelligence tools for creating reports and dashboards.
- Proficiency in Excel Power Query development and general Excel familiarity.
- Understanding software development lifecycle best practices and discipline such as CI/CD and test plans.
- Business rules engine experience.
- Bilingual fluency in English (reading, speaking, writing) and intermediate proficiency in Japanese (reading, speaking).
