Position Overview
We are seeking a strategic and experienced
HR Director
to lead the Human Resources function in Japan. This role is a key partner to the Japan leadership team and plays a pivotal role in aligning HR strategies with business goals, fostering a high-performance culture, and ensuring compliance with local labor regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership
- Partner with country and regional leadership to develop and execute HR strategies that support business growth.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior management on all people-related matters.
Talent Acquisition & Development
- Lead recruitment efforts across all business units.
- Drive succession planning, talent reviews, and high-potential development programs.
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with Japanese labor laws and internal policies.
- Promote a positive, legally sound working environment.
Organizational Development & Change Management
- Lead organizational design, capability building, and change initiatives.
- Support cross-border HR integration and alignment with global policies.
Compensation & Benefits
- Oversee local compensation and benefits programs.
- Collaborate with regional teams to ensure competitiveness and equity.
Performance & Culture
- Champion a performance-driven culture.
- Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
Team Leadership
- Manage and mentor a high-performing HR team.
- Foster professional growth and development.
Requirement
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field (Master's preferred).
- 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including leadership roles in Japan.
- Proven track record in strategic HR business partnering within multinational or high-growth environments.
- Deep understanding of Japanese labor law and HR practices.
- Bilingual: Fluent Japanese and business-level English.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
- Agile, proactive, and hands-on approach to problem-solving.
