Purpose of the role

Global Blue is a global company operating in various fields, including VAT refunds for travelers. It's a leading company with the largest number of TFS transactions in Japan.

The Project Integration team is responsible for localizing and implementing Global's attractive systems and services in Japan while meeting Japanese quality standards.

The holder of this position will work with the IT Manager, Project Integration Japan. They should work on-site as a project manager, overseeing mid/small size projects, performing BAU tasks such as troubleshooting, executing UAT, preparing Business Requirement Specifications, and more.

Responsibilities

Localization

The successful candidate will understand Japanese regulations, merchants' requests, market trends, and collaborate with the Central team to ensure that Japan's requirements are properly implemented into Global's systems and services.

  • Develop well-prepared Business Requirement Specifications.
  • Create Basic Design documents.
  • Conduct thorough User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of Global's systems and services.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest information.
  • Maintain close communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Implementation

The selected candidate will develop a plan considering the rollout schedule to meet the effective date of the law and the agreed customer date. This requires prioritizing negotiations with product teams, sometimes involving senior management.

  • Execute the internal approval process for mid/small size projects.
  • Formulate Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and manage daily progress.
  • Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with the Field Service team and ensure a smooth handover.

BAU

Global's systems and solutions will be improved not only for Japan but also for other countries. Service quality must be ensured through appropriate degradation testing and release support.

In addition, when trouble arises, the Project Integration team will take the lead and work with the Central team to resolve the issue.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • IT or Technology education;
  • 7+ years of working experience with at least 4 years of practical experience as an IT Project Manager.
  • Rich experience in developing front-end solutions (including requirements definition, UI, IF, Form design, error handling design).
  • Rich experience in developing Multi-platform applications (Windows, iOS, Android).
  • Minimum JAVA, C# programming skills (able to review source code).
  • Demonstrated experience in managing projects/work streams within projects.
  • Excellent communication skills across international teams.
  • Excellent organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Work experience in an international/multicultural environment preferred.
  • Project Management Certification (PMI, IPMA) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Ticketing Systems is a plus.
  • Experience with Payment Systems/Solutions is a plus.
  • Excel VBA programming skill is strongly required for automating various daily processes.
  • An independent and self-motivating personality, able to work under remote management.
  • A strong resolution orientation, interpersonal, communication, and organization skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team, presenting ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and customer service skills, with attention to detail.
  • Native Japanese language skills (oral & written).
  • Fluent English language skills (oral & written).
