Portfolio Advisor – Japanese Equities

AKITO Group, one of Asia's leading Japan-focused hedge fund groups, is seeking a Portfolio Advisor as part of its continued business expansion. This is not a traditional analyst role; successful candidates will be hired as Portfolio Advisors from the outset, taking direct risk and advising positions, while applications from high-potential analyst-level candidates are also welcome. You will operate in a highly competitive, performance-driven environment alongside many of the firm's top-tier professionals, where continuous peer-driven improvement is the norm. The firm employs a fundamental, bottom-up investment strategy, conducting rigorous company and industry analysis through frequent IR meetings and direct engagement with corporate management teams. The role demands disciplined research, sound judgment, and the ability to identify attractive investment opportunities from large volumes of information.
Responsibilities
- Research of Japanese listed equities
- Equity analysis primarily through corporate IR meetings
- Investment advisory services to institutional asset managers
Qualifications
Required
- A strong passion for equity investing, or a competitive mindset with a clear drive to win
- Exceptional intellectual capability, including advanced memory and information-processing skills
- Highly motivated, self-driven, and performance-oriented
- Strong mental resilience and emotional discipline required for equity investing and risk-taking
Preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Financial analysis and modeling capabilities
- Proven ability to analyze publicly listed companies
- Experience as a buy-side or sell-side analyst covering Japanese equities, or institutional sales focused on Japanese equities
- Prior experience in investment banking
- Background in global strategy consulting firms or private equity funds
