Role Description
Asia-Pacific Academic (APA) is seeking an
Academic
Events Specialist, Study Abroad Program to support the design, coordination, and implementation of short-term study-abroad programs across the Asia-Pacific region. This role plays a vital part in developing meaningful academic content, identifying and managing educational and cultural partners, and enhancing the overall student learning experience.
The successful candidate will work closely with APA's institutional partners and internal teams to ensure program quality and alignment with learning objectives. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, fluent in both English and Japanese/Chinese, and passionate about international education.
This position is based in Tokyo, Japan or Shanghai, China and requires flexibility for occasional travel and irregular working hours depending on program schedules.
Key Responsibility
- Selecting target partners based on the strategy and needs of the Program.
- Supporting academic engagement set-ups for short-term faculty-led education programs (including virtual programs).
- Conducting extensive research regarding academic content design, academic partner identification, various way of content delivery, etc.
- Generating and fostering innovative ideas to improve students' engagement, and support plan's implementation.
- Expanding and maintaining the database for both university partners and business partners.
- Domestic and foreign business travels for project support and partnership building.
- Program academic experience: make sure to give clear direction and support to the manager of Academic Partnerships on site visits, panel discussion, lectures, workshop, case studies, student projects, service learning, local courses set up, and others.
- Program Management part support: proposals, onsite support, budget,etc.
- Be in dependent in 6-month to 1-year to work with university partners directly as an Assistant Academic Manager.
- Creative new ideas provided to the team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; preferred fields include international education, business, or related disciplines.
- 1–5 years of relevant experience in the education sector, ideally in study-abroad programs, academic coordination, or international partnerships.
- Professional fluency in English and Japanese/Chinese (spoken and written) is required; proficiency in other Asian languages is a plus.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong document management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple vendors and projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, particularly in cross-cultural settings.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities; able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and Word); experience with collaborative platforms such as Google Workspace is a plus.
