Corporate Development Director
We are seeking a highly motivated Corporate Development Director to join our team in Japan. Directly reporting to the Head of Japan with a dotted line into International Head of Strategy, this is an external-facing role to support achieving Japan's growth objectives with a focus on acquisitions, growing strategic partnerships, and identifying new opportunities.
To be successful in the role, you would require a combination of strong financial analysis, M&A deal partnership expertise, and the ability to work effectively within a global organization.
About the Role
As a Corporate Development Director, you will be responsible for:
- M&A and Strategic external partnerships – 70%
- Build acquisition and strategic partnership pipeline in Japan
- Engage with potential targets including progressing "Partner to buy" candidates
- Engage with proposition team to assess capabilities and fit of partners/targets
- Support execution of M&A
- Develop network and engage with key market players
- Engage with government stakeholders & associations as necessary
- Screening new potential partners
- Strategic market analysis – 30%
- Provide deep market insight on key strategic areas
- Competitive assessment
- Develop recommendations for key growth opportunities
About You
As a Corporate Development Director, you should ideally have:
- 8-10 years of experience in corporate development, investment banking or consulting preferably with a top tier firm or a large multinational organization
- Ability to prioritize key opportunities and influence to drive execution
- Strong business fluency in spoken, listening and written Japanese & English languages
- Strong network and experience working in the technology space. A focus on Legal Technology and/or Enterprise technology (ERP, Tax, Trade/Supply chain) would be a plus.
- An understanding of eco-system in Japan
- The ability to engage with C-level executives
- Strong presentation skills, verbal and written
- High level of proficiency using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
