Role
Janu Tokyo is seeking an experienced and inspiring Hotel Manager with a strong operations background and proven Sales & Marketing expertise to lead daily operations and ensure the continued delivery of exceptional guest experiences. Extensive experience working in Japan and a deep understanding of the Japanese hospitality market are essential. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this position plays a pivotal role in upholding the hotel's reputation for refined service, operational excellence, and warm hospitality. The Hotel Manager will be responsible for overseeing all operational departments, guiding a passionate team, and driving continued performance and guest satisfaction at Janu's flagship property.
Responsibilities
Oversee the daily operations of all operational departments including eight Food & Beverage outlets.
Implement and uphold operational policies and procedures, ensuring consistency and compliance throughout the resort.
Conduct regular inspections and use operational data to identify areas for improvement.
Lead by example to deliver service excellence, anticipating and responding to guest needs in a timely and thoughtful manner.
Work closely with the General Manager to manage budgets, monitor financial performance, and ensure optimal profitability.
Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, and Revenue teams, leveraging strong Sales & Marketing expertise to drive occupancy, market share and ADR through strategic initiatives tailored to the Japanese market.
Mentor and motivate team members, oversee recruitment, training, and performance management to foster a strong service culture.
Ensure health, safety, and environmental standards are adhered to, maintaining the highest level of hygiene and cleanliness.
Support crisis management protocols and oversee emergency preparedness across departments.
Cultivate a culture of care, attention to detail, and service that reflects Janu's brand and ethos.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
5–7 years of experience in luxury hospitality, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership position.
Proven professional experience in Japan, with a deep understanding of Japanese business culture and guest expectations.
Solid background in Sales & Marketing within the luxury hospitality sector.
Fluent in Japanese and English.
Proven leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
Exceptional interpersonal and guest relations abilities.
Solid financial acumen and experience analysing operational reports.
Proficiency in hotel management systems (e.g., Opera PMS).
Flexible and adaptable, with a hands-on leadership style and strong attention to detail.
Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
