■塚原さんのバックグラウンドについて教えてください。
新卒で総合コンサルティングファームに入社し、会計系やIT系のコンサルティングをしていました。その後、別のファームに転職し、テクノロジー、メディア、テレコム(TMT)といった領域のクライアントを相手にコンサルティングを提供してきました。1社目ではソリューション寄りの仕事が多かったのですが、2社目ではインダストリー寄りで、幅広くコンサルティングをしてきました。
■現在の業務内容について教えてください。
今の仕事は大きく2つあります。1つ目は、グローバルイノベーション案件のリードを担っています。官公庁主催の大型のイノベーションに関連する案件や、こちらも官公庁主催ですが関西で実施している大型エキスポと関連した形でディープテックを中心にしたプログラムの企画運営を支援しています。2つ目は、イノベーションソリューション事業部の事業部長として、新卒を中心とした30名程度のメンバーのケアや育成を担当しています。
■大型エキスポではどんなことをするのですか?
官公庁が主催のディープテックスタートアップを中心としたイベントを、実際の会場で我々の方で実行支援しています。日本の強みであるディープテックを世界に発信し、世界中から注目のスタートアップやキープレイヤーを招いて接点を作ることが目的です。
■イノベーション政策案件の醍醐味や面白さについて教えてください。
醍醐味は、コンサルティング企業1社ではできないような規模のプログラム支援ができるところです。国や地方自治体が強く推進しているイノベーションスタートアップ支援を受けて、包括的な支援を行うことができるのが大きな魅力ですね。
ステークホルダーが多いことや、これまで日本国内で前例のない規模や内容のプロジェクトを立ち上げることはとても大変ですが、先駆者としてのやりがいを感じています。
■部長業務の面白さややりがいについて教えてください。
自分が担当している部門に限らずお伝えすると、DTVSでは2025年現在で260名程度ですが、その規模の会社全体の方向性を決める議論に参画できているのは非常に面白いなと思います。また、マネジメントとして人材育成やアサイン、採用活動に直接関与できるというのは分かりやすいところかなとは思いますね。
■部長業務の大変なところは何ですか?
そうですね、現在の会社の規模では、全てが整っているわけではありませんが、それが新卒や中途入社者が持つ期待値と現実とのギャップを埋める大切な挑戦の場となっています。『こうあるべき』という期待を持って入社してくれるメンバーの期待に応えるために、現状を一緒に乗り越えながら、理想に近づけていく努力を続けています。このプロセスを通じて、組織としても個人としても成長できる点が、この仕事の魅力であり、やりがいだと感じています。
■ご自身の自己成長や自己実現について教えてください。
以前のコンサルティング業務では、社会貢献や自分の成果が直結していると感じにくい部分もありました。でも、今の業務では、自分の取り組みがイノベーションに繋がっていることが実感できる点が大きな違いです。例えば、万博のプロジェクトに携われるとか、案件を通じて、日本の発展に貢献できるって非常に面白いじゃないですか。この人生でそのような機会は何回あるか分からないので。
■どんな人がDTVSに向いていると思いますか?
何事も面白いと感じることができる人が向いていると思います。企業の新規事業やスタートアップの支援は分かりやすいですが、大規模なプロジェクトにおいては地道な作業や、先行きが不透明な状況でも判断を下さなければならない場面も多いです。それでも、その先にある目標に面白さを見出せる人が活躍できると思います。大規模なプロジェクトにおける地道な作業であっても、視座を高く持つことが大事ですね。
■DTVSのカルチャーや雰囲気について教えてください。
各自のWill(意思)を重視する風土があり、自己主張もしやすく、それを周りもサポートしようとするスタンスを持っているため、風通しの良い、働きやすい職場です。マネジメントとしてはとても大変な面もありますがですが(笑)。
■DTVSを目指す人へのメッセージやアドバイスをお願いします。
私自身もそうでしたが、これまでイノベーションや新規事業に関わってこなかったコンサルタントの方にもチャンスがある会社だと思います。これまで培ってきたコンサルティングスキルを活かして、イノベーションや新規事業、さらには社会全体のために貢献できることは非常にやりがいがあることですし、チャンスだとも思っているので、是非新しい可能性に挑戦してほしいと思います。
