Ahead Staffing is seeking a Logging Platform Engineer for one of our leading e-commerce clients. The goal is to build and maintain a highly scalable and reliable logging platform that supports global operations across multiple regions.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain distributed "as a Service" logging solutions using open-source technologies.
- Manage and support both bare-metal nodes and virtual machines.
- Release new features using tools such as Git, Ansible, Chef, and Jenkins.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues on Linux nodes, providing long-term solutions for user-impacting problems.
- Develop APIs and automation components to enhance platform functionality.
- Collaborate with users to understand their needs and improve their experience with the logging platform.
- Propose and implement new and exciting features to enhance the platform's capabilities.
Required Skills:
- 5+ years of experience in Linux server management and automation in a production environment.
- Strong experience in writing design documents or proposals and working with stakeholders to reach agreements.
- Deep understanding of Linux, networking, and web protocols (e.g., TCP, HTTP, TLS, DNS, BGP).
- Proficiency in a scripting language (e.g., Python) and/or a compiled language (e.g., Golang).
- Knowledge of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- A systematic approach to troubleshooting complex issues.
- General understanding of data center compute and network design.
- Experience working in a collaborative, team-based environment.
- Expertise in managing high SLA and large-scale systems.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Prometheus and ELK.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with distributed systems or microservices architecture.
- Experience as a tech lead, making technical decisions for large-scale systems.
- Hands-on experience managing the ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana).
