This position is responsible for managing the daily operations and delivery of certification and testing services within an assigned product group.
The role ensures that all activities meet company standards for quality, safety, and performance while achieving operational and financial goals.
It involves leadership of staff, oversight of technical and certification processes, customer relationship management, and continuous improvement of service delivery.
Main Responsibilities:
Operational Management
Oversee day-to-day service delivery of certification and testing projects to ensure quality, timeliness, and compliance with corporate and divisional procedures.
Plan and allocate resources, assign work, and monitor productivity and output quality.Maintain operational efficiency through equipment upkeep, workflow optimization, and corrective actions to address deficiencies.
Identify and implement process improvements to achieve service, financial, and performance objectives.
People Leadership
Lead, coach, and manage employees to ensure high-quality execution of testing and certification services.
Hire, train, evaluate, and, when necessary, discipline or terminate staff.
Set and monitor performance goals, encourage professional development, and foster a culture of accountability and growth.
Approve and manage employee overtime, vacation, and expenses in line with company policy.
Financial & Business Planning
Develop annual business plans and budgets in coordination with management.
Forecast capital needs and resource requirements to support business growth and operational capacity.
Monitor performance against financial targets, taking corrective action as needed to ensure revenue and margin goals are achieved.
Manage capital projects, including equipment purchases and installations.
Customer & Client Relations
Serve as a point of contact for customer inquiries and concerns related to certification and testing.
Provide technical assistance and ensure issues are resolved promptly and professionally.
Build strong relationships with clients to enhance satisfaction and trust.
Support customers in understanding certification requirements and processes while maintaining confidentiality.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
Ensure that all operations comply with company quality management systems, safety policies, and industry regulations.
Monitor and evaluate the quality of work performed by staff; address skill or knowledge gaps through training and coaching.
Lead or support internal and external audits; address non-conformances and implement corrective measures.
Promote and uphold a strong culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Technical & Certification Oversight
Manage and execute certification projects, ensuring completion within defined timelines and budgets.
Review test data, reports, and technical documentation; authorize certification reports and Certificates of Compliance.
Conduct or oversee witness testing and product evaluations at client or third-party facilities.
Assess product compliance with national and international standards and make final technical decisions.
Review CB reports, conduct Category Audits, and provide mentorship to technical staff.
Reporting & Communication
Prepare regular reports on operational performance, productivity, financial results, and safety metrics.
Contribute to strategic planning and confidential reports on capacity management, organizational design, and policy development.
Communicate company policies, changes, and updates effectively to all staff.
Qualifications & Skills
Proven experience in operations management, certification, testing, or quality assurance.
Strong leadership and people management abilities.
In-depth understanding of national and international product standards and certification processes.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Strong communication and customer service orientation.
Ability to manage multiple projects, budgets, and deadlines simultaneously.
