Job Description for Mechanical Engineer
We are Valmet Corporation's Fuji Plant Tissue Converting Division, headquartered in Fuji City, Shizuoka Prefecture, engaged in the sale of tissue manufacturing equipment.
We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to drive multiple internal projects. The engineer's role includes collaborating as part of the engineering team to achieve all tasks, executing assigned tasks independently, and preparing reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities:
- Equipment Installation & Commissioning Support: Install ordered equipment at customer facilities and support smooth production start-up.
- Maintenance & Inspection: Conduct scheduled and unscheduled inspections to prevent breakdowns.
- Repair & Recovery Work: Respond to breakdowns on-site, identify causes, and perform repairs.
- Customer Support: Respond to customer inquiries and assist with equipment operation.
- Customer Proposals: Identify customer challenges and propose improvement measures.
- Development Feedback: Provide field insights to the development department to contribute to product improvements.
Mechanical Engineer Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent (engineering knowledge preferred).
- 5+ years of mechanical assembly experience OR 5+ years of field service experience.
- Solid understanding of engineering principles.
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude and boost team morale.
- Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to handle negative feedback and maintain a professional attitude.
- Willingness to work both on-site and in an office environment.
- Ability to travel frequently.
- Communication skills with manufacturing sites.
- Proactive attitude towards field work.
- Fluent reading, writing, and conversational skills in both Japanese and English.
