Position Overview
As a CAD Engineer, you will play a critical role in transforming conceptual designs into detailed 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings. You will work closely with mechanical designers, validation engineers, and production teams to ensure that our robotic systems meet performance, cost, and manufacturability targets.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain 3D CAD models and assemblies of robotic components (arm structures, end-effectors, fixtures, frames, etc.)
Generate detailed 2D drawings, including dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications, for procurement and manufacturing
Collaborate with R&D and prototyping teams to iterate designs based on testing feedback and performance data
Create and update Bill of Materials (BOM) and part lists in PLM/ERP systems
Perform tolerance stack-up analyses, interference checks, and kinematic simulations to validate fit and function
Support design reviews, prepare CAD deliverables for internal stakeholders, and incorporate review comments promptly
Ensure CAD data adheres to company's drawing standards, naming conventions, and revision control processes
Work with vendors and contract manufacturers to clarify drawing details, resolve design queries, and support DFM/DFX initiatives
Assist in developing standard parts libraries, tooling designs, and assembly fixtures
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
3+ years of hands-on experience in 3D CAD for mechanical design, preferably in robotics, automation, or machinery industries
Proficiency in at least one of the following CAD packages: SolidWorks, PTC Creo, Siemens NX, or Autodesk Inventor
Strong understanding of GD&T, materials, manufacturing processes (sheet metal, machining, injection molding) and tolerance analysis
Experience with drawing standards (ISO, ASME Y14.5) and revision control through PDM/PLM systems
Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
