Responsibilities

  • Reports to Procurement Director

  • Support the department members as a manager of the purchasing department.

  • Develop purchasing strategies aligned with the business in collaboration with department members and related departments, and create department value by executing action plans based on the formulated strategy.

  • Collaborate with departments such as SCM to drive optimization of the supply chain.

  • Contribute to the company's P&L by improving productivity and cash flow as part of the purchasing department.

  • Participate in large projects as the representative of the purchasing department, managing supplier relationships and contributing to improving profit margins.

  • Negotiate necessary terms for supplier contracts and supply conditions.

  • Work with the APAC material team to improve service levels that meet the needs of the Japanese business.

  • Lead governance and compliance related to purchasing activities, ensuring adherence to company policies and Japanese regulations.

  • Manage supplier relationships, including maintaining relationships and performance management, and conduct regular business reviews with assigned suppliers.

  • Clarify purchasing needs, track performance, and identify and execute continuous improvement activities.

  • Analyze market information related to the supply base and discover new suppliers to support business growth.

  • Promote change and actively lead transformation to drive procurement transformation in Japan.

Qualifications

-Bachelor's degree or equivalent academic qualifications, or sufficient professional experience; an MBA is a plus.

  • 5-10 years of purchasing experience

  • Native-level Japanese and business-level English required.

  • Practical experience with multinational companies, general contractors, or subcontractors is a plus.

  • Experience in project management, purchasing category management, or engineering sourcing is a plus.

  • Familiarity with cost-reduction methods and procurement-related tools is a plus.

  • Knowledge of purchasing-related laws, financial knowledge, and practical experience in contract management is a plus.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Strategic and logical thinking.

  • Quick learning and adaptability to rapidly changing environments.

  • Stakeholder management through clear communication.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Skills in data processing and presentation.

Salary

Company will consider candidates up to 11M JPY for annual salary (client may consider higher salary based on candidate skills and experience).
