Our mission is to build the private cloud to host internal applications, hosted globally. Ongoing initiative and growing and maturing as new request coming.
We build and operate robust infrastructure platform that empowers Rakuten Group, Inc.'s businesses around the world. We are based in Japan, India, US and EU, and we have over 400 members from various regions to accelerate the Rakuten Group, Inc. ecosystem.
We provide platform as a service to development teams throughout Rakuten Group, Inc. by developing our own platform and leveraging open source software solutions.
You will have the opportunity to work on mission critical services at a large, enterprise level scale. Our services must maintain a high quality while handling a tremendous amount of load.

Rakuten Group, Inc. provides services to millions of users and is expanding rapidly. We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Engineering Manager to lead the team and build/operate products & services for Rakuten Cloud.
Position Details
Responsibilities:
-Primary goal is managing our database platform. We are looking for someone who is strong in daily operations.
-Drive hybrid and public cloud solutions for workloads that need scalability, resiliency, optimization and High Availability.
-Gather and analyze metrics from OS, Network and Applications to assist in fault finding and long-term actionable solutions.
-Drive service quality and uptimes within the organization with well-defined processes and metrics including RCA.
-Drive Innovation POCs, Intellectual Property Development and influence Product Roadmaps.
-Collaborate with users to understand and improve on their experience.
-Consult on migrating legacy applications to modern database stack.
-Hire and groom next-gen technical leaders.

Team structure:
-We are a growing team with about 20+members across the globe.
-Asst. Managers: 5;
-Members: 20+;
-Most of the team members have multiple years of experience, while a few joined as entry level.
Infrastructure used:
-MySQL, Oracle, Redis, Cassandra, Couchbase, Cloud DBs.
-Kubernetes, Kafka, API Gateway.
-CentOS, Ubuntu, Redhat.
ProgrammingLanguages:
-Anyscriptinglanguage.
Mandatory Qualifications:
-12-15 years of total experience in leading database organizationboth on-prem and on public cloud.
-8-10 years of management experience with a direct experience of 5+ years in managing first line managers.
-Extensive experience (Hands-on) in the following technologies: Database (Oracle, MySQL, Cassandra, Redis, Couchbase) Cloud (public/private), Kubernetes & CICD tools.
-Expertise in database operations, Change and Incident Management, database migration and automation (DevOps).
-Mastery in Linuxand database performance tuning.
-Experience in developing and leading teams building solutions with cloud technologies.
-Experience with SRE practices, including operational architectures, observability, reliability, availability, and scalability.
-Strong problem solving and critical thinking ability. Ability to troubleshoot issues and enable team members to quickly resolve incidents.
-Excellent written and communication skills with strong stakeholder management skills. Ability to work across globe with different cultures.
-Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering
-Exposure to budget management
-Knowledge in E-commerce and FinTech sector
-Strong leadership primarily focusing on delivering results
-Experience of working in cross-culture environment
