Tokyo Match Group ¥120,000 - ¥180,000 per year
Role overview: Match Group and its portfolio of brands in Japan, including the leading dating and matrimony app Pairs, is seeking a public policy professional to lead our engagement with policymakers, regulators, and stakeholders in Japan and across APAC. This role is central in advancing our policy priorities, strengthening institutional relationships, and fostering a regulatory environment that supports innovation, user safety, and responsible growth. The ideal candidate will be a strategic, English-Japanese bilingual professional with a proven record of working with Japanese political and regulatory institutions. The position also requires close collaboration with our global Communications & Policy team and cross-functional internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and consistency.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement government relations strategies to advance Match Group's business and policy objectives in Japan.
  • Monitor and analyze legislative, regulatory, and political developments impacting Match Group and its leading brands such as Pairs.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with policymakers, regulators, industry associations, and civil society.
  • Represent Match Group's positions directly with national and local stakeholders, as well as through coalitions and trade associations.
  • Facilitate high-level meetings between company executives and government or industry leaders.
  • Design and execute advocacy campaigns and programs with various stakeholders, including public sector officials, NGOs, and aligned industries.
  • Develop and cultivate a network of trusted third-party validators and advocates to amplify and advance advocacy positions across key audiences.
  • Partner with internal teams (Business, Legal, Communications, Safety) and external consultants to ensure coordinated, impactful policy advocacy.
  • Represent Match Group at industry events, policy forums, and in coalitions to enhance the company's profile as a trusted partner.
  • Contribute to the development of policy positions, white papers, and consultation responses on key issues relevant to Japan.

We could be a match if:

  • You are motivated by Match Group's mission to create meaningful connections for people around the world.
  • You have a degree in law, policy, or other relevant discipline.
  • You have a minimum of 8 years of experience in government relations, public affairs, or public policy.
  • You have built relationships within Japanese government ministries, regulatory agencies, and industry bodies.
  • You bring a deep understanding of Japanese legislative and regulatory processes, particularly in technology, consumer protection, and digital policy.
  • You are able to demonstrate success in shaping policy outcomes and managing advocacy campaigns.
  • You're a Japanese speaker, and fluent in English – proficiency in Korean is a plus. You are an excellent communicator with the ability to articulate complex policy issues clearly and persuasively, and willingness to travel on occasion to do so.
  • You have a proven ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional and global environment, and to contribute to business goals by identifying and anticipating policy and regulatory opportunities and risks.

Why join us:

  • This is a unique opportunity to shape the policy landscape for one of the world's leading technology companies.
  • You will join a high-performing global team, collaborate across regions, and work on meaningful issues at the intersection of technology, safety, and society.
