Job Title: Product Strategy & Development Manager

Primary Objectives:
  • Support short to long-term product strategic plans by analyzing market trends and customer needs.
  • Lead and develop the local Product Strategy & Development team to drive product innovation and growth.
  • Monitor industry and regulatory trends, anticipating business impacts and identifying opportunities to improve products and services.
  • Develop new products for Japanese clients across asset classes, wrappers, and channels, ensuring they meet customer needs and comply with regulations.
  • Execute product development initiatives on the local ITM platform for retail and Institutional channels, supporting execution activities for Japan client-sponsored launches in other domiciles.
  • Review profitability, adequacy, and strategic fit of existing and future products, making data-driven decisions to optimize the product portfolio.
  • Keep local teams informed of progress on PS&D initiatives and ensure timely communication with stakeholders.
  • Support and maintain reports and analysis showing industry trends and AB's products positioning, enabling informed decision-making.

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Own, maintain, and syndicate mid to long-term product strategy for Japan, driving business growth and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead the execution of product launches, liquidations, and changes/restructuring, ensuring seamless transitions and minimal disruption.
  • Communicate progress on various initiatives to key stakeholders, including Senior Management, Client teams, Investment team, Legal, Control Functions, Finance Teams, Operations and Fund Administration, Local Regulators, Clients and Consultants, Auditors, and Regional/Global PS&D team stakeholders.
  • Capture product ideas and maintain the PS&D pipeline database, ensuring a robust pipeline of innovative products.
  • Support and manage the local PS&D team, providing guidance and resources to drive success.
  • Build and maintain data/reports to support decisions for PS&D, leveraging insights to inform product development and launch strategies.

Key Skill Areas & knowledge Required:
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in asset management products, preferably in banks or asset managers, with a successful track record of supporting investment products launches in Japan.
  • Perfect knowledge of the Japanese Asset Management industry and regulatory framework.
  • Fluent in English and Japanese, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledgeable about Japanese retail distribution, preferably with wholesale experience in Japan.
  • Familiarity with Japanese regulations and customs, as well as global asset management business and non-Japan domiciles.
  • Past exposure to ETFs/Alts products is an advantage.
