The Role
- Lead and scale the engineering organization as Head of Engineering, overseeing product development, platform architecture, and technical strategy
- Manage and mentor a growing engineering team (currently 15-20 engineers), fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and collaboration
- Drive the technical roadmap in alignment with business objectives, focusing on platform scalability, performance, and new feature development
- Oversee the full technology stack including web applications, mobile applications, backend infrastructure, and data systems
- Partner closely with the CEO, product, and business teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Establish and improve engineering processes, best practices, and development methodologies to increase team efficiency and product quality
- Lead recruitment efforts to attract top engineering talent and build a world-class engineering organization
- Manage vendor relationships and technical partnerships as needed
- Ensure system reliability, security, and performance across all platforms
- Drive innovation in areas such as creator matching algorithms, analytics, and platform features
Your Skills
Required:
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with at least 5 years in engineering management or leadership roles
- Proven track record of building and scaling engineering teams (15+ people)
- Strong technical background with hands-on experience in modern web and mobile technologies
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and scalable system architecture
- Fluent Japanese (native or business level) is mandatory
- Business-level English for communication with potential international partners and technical documentation
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Preferred:
- Experience in consumer-facing platform or marketplace businesses
- Background in social media, creator economy, influencer marketing, or advertising technology
- Experience with data-driven product development and analytics
- Track record of successfully delivering complex technical projects in fast-paced environments
- Experience building and managing mobile applications (iOS/Android)
- Knowledge of machine learning or recommendation systems
- Startup or high-growth company experience
