Team / division overview

The individual will be the DWS Japan CFO and be responsible for all Finance and Tax related activities, including any treasury matters, regulatory interaction and being a member of the DWS Japan Board of Directors. He/she needs to be fluent in English and be able to communicate succinctly both orally and written to senior stakeholders.

Your responsibilities –

As our CFO, you will:

CFO

  • Member of the Board of DWS Japan and responsible for the local entity control and governance
  • Primarily face off to regulator for any Finance regulatory aspect
  • Respond to and support inquiries from tax authorities, internal/external audits
  • Be ready to step into the detail and lead the solution for any issues with other departments
  • Ensuring appropriate integrity and controls over the entity's financial records
  • Ensure compliance with relevant statutory, accounting and regulatory requirements in providing accurate, timely and complete reporting of DB's financial position
  • Acting as a business partner by providing commercial advice to the Business of the financial implications of various key decision making
  • Communicate company plans and results to stakeholders
  • Prepare for and attend board meetings and other meetings (e.g., NPA, RMC, Exco, Managers meeting, etc.)、and provide necessary sign off
  • Responsible for overseeing and planning of local regulatory capital calculations and adherence
  • Review, validate and sign-off local and IFRS GAAP Trial Balance, P&L, BS and off BS
  • Review, validate and sign-off all local regulatory and statutory reporting
  • Review DTA calculation and write up

    • Tax

  • Working along side with internal tax team and external advisor, the candidate is expect to posses tax knowledge to support on the below tax topics.
  • Tax Accounting - effective tax rate reporting including computation of Corporate tax provisions and deferred tax asset/liabilities through (i) Group tax workbook preparation for IFRS purposes and (ii) DWS Japan's JGAAP disclosure preparation on semi-annual basis under the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act
  • Tax Compliance - complying with any direct and indirect tax obligations including tax payments, tax return preparation and other filing obligations
  • Tax Audit - Tax audit support, including corporate, consumption and withholding taxes as well as information reporting audit by internal/external auditors
  • Transfer Pricing – (i) liaising with the Global TP team to ensure appropriate BEPS 13 documents are in place for all cross-border related party transactions and (ii) arranging

    • Treasury

  • Responsible for negotiating any local lines of credit if needed
  • Liquidity and cash flows monitoring and planning

    • People Management

  • The individual will be responsible for directly managing two individuals, including:
  • Providing regular performance feedback and coaching
  • Providing exceptional leadership and promoting high performing culture through developing and upskilling them
  • Setting clear directions for the team in line with region's and group's business strategy and regulatory requirements
  • Stepping into the detail and providing advice for all matters related to Finance and Tax
  • Managing Vendor staff and offshore (e,g, Manila) staff
  • Being ready to work with staff together as a team to manage the high demand workload

    • We are looking for

  • At least 15 years demonstrated working experiences in auditing, tax, accounting and finance
  • At least 5 years leading a finance function
  • Possesses strong analytical skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English and Japanese
  • Strong business acumen and entrepreneurial mindset
  • Successful track record in Finance transformation or similar initiatives
  • Strong change and inquisitive mindset
  • Experience working at Board level
  • Experience with Tax and other regulatory audits
  • Qualified tax accountant
  • Educated to University degree level
  • Native level Japanese and Fluent English
  • Good communication and influencing skills
  • JSDA1 qualification holder preferred (but not mandatory)
