Business Overview

The Marketplace business is the development of Rakuten Ichiba, the founding business of Rakuten. Rakuten Ichiba has created a system that allows people who are good at business to easily open stores beyond the limits of the business sphere, delivering the joy of shopping to users throughout Japan.

Department Overview

Rakuten Ichiba has grown to become one of the biggest media platforms in Japan, with more than 40,000 stores and over 98 million user accounts.

You will be responsible for all processes from marketing strategy planning and execution to verification of effectiveness to solve the client’s issues as a partner of a leading consumer goods manufacturer.

As a key member of the Rakuten Ichiba team, you will have the opportunity to participate in the business from the launch phase of our solution business in the offline promotion domain for consumer goods manufacturers.

Position: To expand the solution business in the offline promotion domain for consumer goods manufacturers within the Rakuten Group and to strengthen our sales efforts accordingly.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Market analysis
  • Proposals for attracting customers by placing advertisements to achieve sales targets and campaigns during the sales season
  • Analysis of the results of measures using data and proposals for improvement

Each person is responsible for approximately 5-8 companies.

Work Environment

The team is comprised of approximately 18 members, with a diverse age range and a flat communication style.

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in one or more of the following fields: sales to consumer goods manufacturers in internet media, sales strategy or brand strategy at a manufacturer, advertising sales in online media, offline promotion solutions for manufacturers, or business targeting consumer goods manufacturers at an advertising agency

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in brand and marketing strategy development in a manufacturer
  • Interest in the social transformation brought about by the internet/big data
  • Strong desire to grow
  • Good balance between logical and creative thinking
  • Able to think and act from the perspective of customers and the business as a whole

Working Conditions:

  • 9:1 ratio of office work to face-to-face meetings
  • Day-to-day communication with clients via email, telephone, and online meetings

Language: English (Fluent), Japanese (Fluent)

TOEIC Score: Exceeding 800 (or similar level of English ability or a University Degree earned in an English-speaking country)
