This position will have a wide range of responsibility including drafting and reviewing various legal documents, updating existing templates and processes to support the Company's mission, values and objectives.
A successful candidate must have sound judgment and the ability to translate legal concepts to clear understandable advice for use by business partners.
This role is ideally suited for an individual who is eager to learn, has an ownership mentality, is self-motivated and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Position Summary
Performs specialized duties related to the drafting and review of various business related agreements, marketing materials, promotions and communications for compliance with law and company policy and practices.
Support acquisition, creation and sales of new timeshare projects and on-going support and legal compliance of the same
Develop policies, procedures, templates and instructional guides related to company and legal compliance.
Create and deliver legal training and guidance to non-legal team members as needed.
Supervise legal staff and provide related training and support, as needed.
Maintain or assist in maintaining corporate entities and entity level licenses in Japan
Assists in reviewing and responding to escalated complaints received from attorneys, regulatory agencies, and other entities as requested.
Provide legal to various business units including Sales, Marketing, Club, Portfolio Services, Development, IT, etc.
Track, file, amend, renew specialty license and support other business units doing the same (real estate & travel agency)
Prepares reports and research projects as requested.
Coordinate with local counsel in Japan, Korea and other APAC regions as needed.
Coordinate with legal team in the US on regular basis.
Performs other duties as assigned or as needed.
Must be able to handle multiple projects and prioritize appropriately
Solid judgement and ability to build trust and strong relationships required.
Not a remote position, Must be able to work in office.
Junior attorney preferred, but senior paralegal also under consideration
Although this position will report up to the Legal Department headquartered in the US, the position will be located in Japan with a dotted reporting structure to this position in Japan
Required Qualifications
Proficient in English and Japanese both written and verbal
BA/BS/Bachelor's Degree
3 years of related experience
Preferred Qualifications
Legal knowledge and experience in Real estate, travel or hospitality industry
Advanced Legal degree
3-5 years of related experience
2+ years of management or supervisory experience
