Team Introduction:
The ByteDance Tax team is building to work with other corporate functions on tax advisory, planning, structuring, and tax controversy.
We are seeking an enthusiastic Japan Tax Country Manager to join its tax team in Tokyo to support its rapid growth and complex business.
Responsibilities:
This role requires close collaboration with colleagues from multiple departments (e.g. Accounting, Legal, Transfer Pricing, Treasury, and HR) to help manage tax obligations and implement practical tax solutions.
- Tax Compliance, Provisioning, and Payments: Prepare and collate data for tax filings. Review externally prepared returns for technical accuracy. Ensure timely filing of tax returns, including corporation tax, consumption tax, withholding tax, and other local business taxes. Support central tax reporting requirements and review local tax accounting calculations. Manage tax payments, including forecasting and instalment calculations.
- Tax Governance: Lead efforts to enhance endtoend tax controls and processes. Handling inquiries and audits from the National Tax Agency.
- Tax Business Partnering: Work closely with global Tax Business Partners, providing specialist local tax insights from both technical and operational perspectives.
- Tax Projects: Support various local tax initiatives, including tax incentive applications, launch of new businesses.
- Tax Legislation Monitoring: Track legislative changes, assess their impact on the business, and recommend practical solutions to address those changes.
- The role will be based in Tokyo.

- 新事業の立ち上げに関する税務分析・実行支援、税務上の優遇措置の適用可否の分析・申請等
- 最新の税務動向・改正内容を把握し、事業に対する影響を分析しタックスプランニングを行う
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimally 5+ years of Japanese tax experience in industry or multinational accounting firm.
- Project Management: Capable of owning projects and managing input from various tax vendors.
- Relationship Building: Ability to build strong relationships with internal teams and vendors.
- Independence and Adaptability: A selfstarter, comfortable working independently in a fastpaced and dynamic environment.
- Learning Orientation: Passion for learning new tax concepts and conducting technical research.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate analysis.
- Language: Proficient in Japanese and able to read, understand and write English.

- 監査法人、税理士法人、事業会社等で日本税務申告書やアドバイザリー業務の経験が5年程度以上ある方
- プロジェクトの担当者として、外部アドバイザーからのコメントを分析・管理することができること
- 優れた対人スキル、社内外のステークホルダーと緊密な信頼関係を構築することができること
- 好奇心旺盛で誠実勤勉な方
- 細部へのこだわりをお持ちの方
- 日本語に堪能で、英語の読み書き、理解、書き取りができます
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Qualifications: Professional Japanese accountancy or tax qualifications.
- Industry Experience: Experience in the TMT industry and related tax issues.
- Accounting Knowledge: A good knowledge of accounting principles.
