Summary: The Senior Sustainability Public Relations and Communication Manager is responsible for strategically communicating the company's sustainability initiatives including Water, World Without Waste, Climate, Agriculture, Sugar Reduction, and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) to both external and internal audiences. This role aims to elevate the company's reputation as a leader in sustainability through effective public relations activities and building trust with stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Formulate sustainability-related public relations strategies and create media plans to effectively convey the company's vision and goals.
- Create compelling narratives and content across various channels, including press releases, website, social media, to effectively convey our sustainability efforts.
- Monitor and analyze media coverage and industry trends related to sustainability. Leverage insights to refine communication strategies and enhance effectiveness.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries related to sustainability topics; cultivate and maintain relationships with key media contacts to facilitate positive coverage.
- Plan and execute sustainability-focused events, webinars, and speaking engagements to engage stakeholders and raise awareness.
- Manage and direct public relations agencies and other external partners to ensure media objectives are met. Coordinate press conferences, media events, and prepare related materials such as press releases, articles and social media content.
- Support the Strategic Marketing Communications Director in executing communication plans and collaborating on integrated marketing initiatives.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in sustainability communications and incorporate them into the company's communication strategies to maintain competitiveness and relevance.
- Promote engagement with internal stakeholders, including associates and leadership, to increase awareness and support for sustainability initiatives, driving company-wide participation. Act as an ambassador for sustainability.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in communication, media relations, public relations, or community engagement, preferably with a focus on sustainability.
- Proven ability to create a wide range of communications materials (e.g., speeches, brochures, reports, news releases, strategic plans, video, and photography) for diverse audiences.
- Strong network of media contacts and extensive experience in media relations.
- Experience in managing social media and other digital communication channels.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Japanese, with the ability to serve as a company spokesperson.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and influence without authority.
