Moody's Ratings Sustainable Finance Team is hiring for a challenging role in sustainable finance. Our team plays a key role in the world's transition to a low-carbon and sustainable economy by channeling financing into investments with clear environmental/social benefits.
Job Description
Sustainable finance has a significant impact on long-term growth potential: we forecast $950 billion in green, social, sustainability and sustainability-linked (GSSS) bonds issuance in 2024. Market participants demand accurate assessments detailing the sustainability credentials of an organization's bond and loan issuance.
As a Second Party Opinion (SPO) provider, our role is to support the integrity and clarity of a market that is becoming increasingly complex, covering a growing range of sectors and technologies.
The Role
The Sustainable Finance Analyst will focus on delivering SPOs to customers across various sectors, including corporate, financial, and public sectors. The successful candidate will have ample knowledge of the sustainable finance space and a demonstrable track record of working in Asia Pacific.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform analysis and lead work on SPOs for issuers and sectors, demonstrating sound analytical judgement and leadership
- Engage professionally and responsively with customers, demonstrating depth of expertise and knowledge
- Establish relationships with issuers, underwriters, and investors and manage key strategic relationships
- Develop and deliver thought-leading presentations on key topics affecting the sustainable finance sector
- Contribute to thematic research supporting Moody's position as a leader in sustainable finance
- Support the sustainable finance team's analytical development and analysis of market trends
- Guide and mentor junior staff, effectively managing joint tasks
- Support projects furthering thought leadership, process improvement, and innovation
Requirements
- Graduate degree with 5-6 years of relevant experience or undergraduate degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience
- University degree(s) in environmental science, engineering, social sciences, economics, finance, international relations, or other relevant fields
- Good understanding of sustainable financial markets and related instruments
- Professional proficiency in English and Japanese language skills required
- Solid knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Solid verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proven organizational skills, with ability to adapt to changing environments and prioritize tasks
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, accurate work
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team culture
- Good leadership skills and ability to set direction
