Finance & Accounting Senior Accountant / Assistant Manager (GL)
Role Overview
As a member of the Finance & Accounting team, this role provides cross-functional support to multiple business entities (maisons) and back-office functions, with primary responsibility for General Ledger (GL) operations.
The position also plays an active role in strengthening internal controls and driving process improvements within the finance function.
Key Responsibilities
General Ledger (GL) Operations
- Manage end-to-end GL activities for one or multiple assigned business entities
- Support financial operations across multiple business entities and back-office functions as part of the Finance & Accounting team
Project Involvement & Process Improvement
- Lead or actively contribute to projects related to financial processes
- Proactively propose and execute initiatives to optimize processes and improve operational efficiency
Internal Control & Knowledge Sharing
- Maintain existing accounting processes and related documentation, and propose improvements where necessary
- Support the implementation of new internal controls in response to organizational requirements
- Share knowledge and best practices within the team to enhance collaboration and organizational capability
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience in a foreign-owned retail company, with a strong focus on General Ledger operations
- Hands-on experience using Excel and accounting systems
Certifications
- Nissho Bookkeeping Level 2 or equivalent
- CPA qualification is a plus
Language Skills
- Business-level proficiency in both Japanese and English
