Summary

As the Manager, Finance & Business Support, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Financial Controller in delivering timely and accurate financial analysis to support effective decision making by Management. You will be responsible for preparing all statutory and management reports for Far East Hospitality Management and hotels' owners, analysing financial reports, managing budgeting and forecasting processes. This role requires close collaboration with hotel operations, revenue teams, and corporate stakeholders to ensure financial alignment and performance tracking. You will also ensure sound financial control over the managed hotels' expenses, income, assets, and liabilities within a centralised accounting environment.

Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Support

• Collaborate closely with the Financial Controller and Management to provide market insights, financial modelling, and analysis that support strategic decision-making and long-term financial planning.
• Assist in due diligence and financial evaluations for new initiatives, investments, and business proposals.
• Support the development of strategies and assist in the preparation of the hotel strategic plans that drive profitability, operational efficiency, and sustainable growth.

Financial Reporting, Budgeting & Forecasting

• Prepare, consolidate, and analyse monthly and quarterly financial reports for management review, ensuring alignment with JGAAP and Group accounting policies (where applicable).
• Perform detailed variance analysis and provide commentary information comparing actuals against budget, forecast, and prior year to Management.
• Support the Financial Controller in coordinating the annual budgeting and rolling forecast processes, ensuring timely and accurate submissions from business units.
• Conduct benchmarking and trend analysis to identify opportunities for performance improvement.
• Prepare ad-hoc reports and presentations for senior management, including financial insights, performance updates, and strategic recommendations.

Operational Finance & Compliance

• Prepare journal entries and maintain a complete and accurate general ledger in accordance with accounting standards and internal SOPs.
• Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled on monthly basis, ensuring timely resolution of outstanding items.
• Ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements, tax regulations, and internal controls.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to audit queries.

Process Improvement & Controls

• Support the Financial Controller to ensure compliance to the Far East Hospitality policies and procedures.
• Document and maintain standard operating procedures, workflows, and accounting policies.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and control.
• Support the Financial Controller in strengthening internal controls and ensuring governance across finance operations.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with hotel operations, revenue management, and corporate teams to ensure financial alignment and support business objectives.
• Support Financial Controller as a liaison between the Japan finance team and Singapore head office, ensuring clear communication and adherence to corporate policies.

People

• Supervise, direct and manage Finance staff and outsourced accounting team (where applicable) for accurate maintenance of accounting books and timely reporting.

Requirements

1. Bachelor's Degree or Professional Qualification in Finance or Accountancy, or a related field.
2. Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in the hospitality industry, including preferably exposure to hotel pre-opening projects and working with international hotel brands.
3. Proficient in both English and Japanese, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
4. In-depth knowledge of Japan's financial regulations, statutory requirements, and tax legislation.
5. Solid grasp of Japanese GAAP and financial reporting standards.
6. Proficient in Microsoft Office and financial systems such as SAP or other ERP platforms.
7. Positive and keen to learn attitude.
8. Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and a proactive, investigative approach to problem-solving.
9. Demonstrated ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
