Accounting Manager (Tokyo)
Based in Tokyo, this pivotal leadership role oversees the financial integrity and reporting accuracy for the Japanese division of a major global agricultural solutions provider. Reporting directly to the Finance Controller, the Manager is responsible for maintaining precise financial records, performing high-level data analysis, and collaborating cross-functionally to drive informed business decisions. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented professional capable of balancing rigorous technical accounting standards with the strategic agility required to support a large-scale, sustainable manufacturing and distribution network.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting & Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate general ledger entries, AP/AR, and intercompany balances; ensure full compliance with both
IFRS and local GAAP
. - Period-End Closing:
Lead the end-to-end month, quarter, and year-end closing processes to deliver accurate and timely financial statements. - Stakeholder Collaboration:
Partner with the HQ Finance Shared Service team to align financial practices and maintain reporting consistency. - Tax & Audit Management:
Oversee tax provision reporting and returns; act as the primary lead for internal and external audits by providing reconciliations and documentation. - Internal Controls & Analysis:
Implement control procedures to safeguard assets and perform detailed trend analysis to investigate financial variances. - Resource Management:
Supervise and leverage temporary (Haken) staff to ensure all operational requirements and deadlines are met.
Qualifications
- Education & Certification:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification is highly preferred. - Professional Experience:
Minimum 7 years of accounting experience, with a proven track record in a
multinational environment
. - Technical Expertise:
Deep knowledge of
IFRS and J-GAAP
reporting standards, financial regulations, and accounting principles. - Systems & Software:

; experience with other ERP systems is a plus. - Advanced proficiency in
Microsoft Excel
and collaboration tools (MS Teams). - Language Skills:
Professionally bilingual with effective communication skills in both
English and Japanese
