Job Title: Immigration Law Paralegal
Job Description:
We are seeking a bilingual Japanese/English paralegal with 3-5 years of experience in immigration law. As an immigration law paralegal, your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting attorneys with all aspects of immigration case preparation and management.
- Conducting intake interviews with clients to gather relevant information for their cases.
- Preparing and filing various immigration forms and petitions with government agencies.
- Drafting correspondence, affidavits, and legal documents related to immigration matters.
- Conducting legal research on immigration laws, regulations, and precedents.
- Managing case files, deadlines, and appointments to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Communicating with clients, government officials, and other relevant parties regarding case updates and requirements.
- Assisting with translation and interpretation as needed during client meetings, interviews, and hearings.
- Providing administrative support to attorneys, such as scheduling appointments, maintaining calendars, and organizing documents.
- Staying informed about changes in immigration laws and policies to provide accurate and up-to-date advice to clients.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in paralegal studies or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience working as a paralegal, preferably in immigration law.
- Fluency in both Japanese and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using legal research tools and software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of immigration forms, procedures, and filing requirements.
- Familiarity with cultural sensitivities and nuances in dealing with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Ethical conduct and adherence to confidentiality guidelines in handling sensitive information.
- Willingness to potentially relocate to the United States in the future for employment opportunities.
