Department Overview

The Group Governance Department is in charge of promoting internal controls for the continued success of Rakuten Group. For this role, we are looking for a candidate who can identify outstanding tasks relating to corporate governance, come up with countermeasures, and create procedures with the aim of enhancing group-wide management. We aim to further strengthen our governance structure to accompany the expansion in scope of Rakuten Group's business activities and globalization. In this role, the successful candidate will be expected to not only complete tasks which they are assigned but to also actively make proposals and expand the scope of their work and contribute to the expansion of business activities at Rakuten Group.

Position Details

We are looking for a person who can identify issues related to group governance operations, plan solutions to address them, and develop frameworks to strengthen group management.
- Planning, design, and implementation of Group Governance
- System design, planning, management, and educational activities for group rules and regulations (RGR)
- Drafting and managing Group Regulations (RGR) and internal company regulations; regulation administration operations
- System design, planning, management, and educational activities related to decision-making authority
- Planning and implementation of monitoring to strengthen internal control
- Organizational design, planning
- Project management related to group governance

Work Environment

The team consists of 12 members, and more than half are in their 30s. Some are also thriving while balancing childcare or caregiving responsibilities.
Most of the team are mid-career hires, coming from a wide range of industries and professional backgrounds.

Mandatory Qualifications:

- Experience in drafting internal company regulations and conducting regulation management operations
- Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders across Rakuten Group's diverse businesses (top management, management of each business, and the relevant persons in charge at responsible departments and companies)
- Able to think independently and act quickly even in a rapidly changing environment and situation
- Reviewing materials and operating MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) as required to create them.
- Native-level Japanese language proficiency

Desired Qualifications:

- Experience in planning and implementing plans related to the entire company
- Experience in planning and implementing governance and internal controls
- Basic knowledge of Japan's Companies Act (in particular, foundational knowledge of corporate governance structures for a stock company (Kabushiki Kaisha)
- A strong mindset for business process improvement
- Skills to execute work efficiently by leveraging AI, automation, and similar tools
- Experience in working at a consulting firm
