We are seeking an experienced and leadership-oriented
Cruise Team Lead
to join our growing Cruise Operations team in Kyoto. This role is ideal for professionals with cruise or tourism operations experience who enjoy leading teams, managing complex logistics, and delivering high-quality shore excursion and turnaround programs.
What You'll Do
- Lead the daily activities of Cruise Coordinators, ensuring accurate bookings for hotels, guides, and transportation
- Act as the primary onsite lead when vessels are in port, managing execution and resolving real-time operational challenges
- Oversee the coordination and delivery of shore excursions and turnaround programs across Japan
- Audit supplier arrangements to ensure itineraries are delivered to Destination Asia Japan's quality standards
- Source quotations and negotiate pricing with hotels, transportation providers, and key suppliers
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Port Officials, Ship Agents, and strategic partners
- Support the Cruise Director and Manager with departmental planning and operational initiatives
- Travel to ports across Japan as required to lead onsite cruise operations
What We're Looking For
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Tourism or Business
- 3–5 years of experience in the tourism or cruise industry
- Experience demonstrating progression beyond a coordinator-level role
Skills & Competencies
- High-level proficiency in spoken and written Japanese and English
- Proven ability to lead teams and work across departments
- Strong operational and logistical coordination skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Solid understanding of operations, sales, and administrative processes within the Japanese travel market
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and calm under pressure
