Role Overview
GL events Japan K.K. is the Japanese branch of GL events, a global leader in integrated event solutions and services. Leveraging decades of expertise in major international sporting events; including the Olympic Games, FIFA World Cup, Rugby World Cup and many others, the company delivers end-to-end solutions across event space design, overlay and temporary infrastructure, operations, logistics, and technical support. As part of GL events Group, operating in 20+ countries with over 5,000 employees and €1.3bn in revenues, GL events Japan supports world-class projects like the Asian Games 2026 in Nagoya.
We are seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager to support the planning and execution of an international sports event. This role is ideal for someone passionate about sports, logistics, and global collaboration. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth operations, timely delivery of milestones, and an unforgettable experience for athletes, spectators, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and maintaining detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets
- Coordinate with international vendors and local authorities to ensure compliance and smooth execution
- Support logistics planning including venue setup, dismantling, local and international transportation and team's arrangement
- Monitor project progress and proactively identify risks or delays
- Liaise closely with the site team
- Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure adherence to international standards and event protocols
- Participate in on-site event management and troubleshooting during live operations
Qualifications & Skills
- Associate or bachelor's degree in a relevant field
- 2+ years of experience in event management or project coordination (preferably international)
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Keen attention to detail and an aptitude for problem-solving
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to fast-paced environments
- Professional English and Japanese is a must
- Proficiency in office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and AutoCAD
- International experience is a plus
- Passion for sports and global events
