Osaka Swissport Japan Ltd.

We are seeking an experienced
HR General Manager
to lead strategic and operational HR functions in Japan. This position plays a critical role in driving organizational growth, ensuring compliance with Japanese labor regulations, and optimizing talent across the business. The HR GM will partner closely with senior leadership locally and globally and oversee all HR governance, people initiatives, and payroll operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute medium- and long-term HR strategies aligned with business objectives
  • Lead labor cost planning and forecasting to support workforce and financial planning
  • Manage, coach, and evaluate HR team members to build a high-performing HR function
  • Oversee and improve HR operations, including
    payroll, benefits, labor relations, HR systems, employment rules, HR data management, attendance, and union relations
  • Ensure full compliance with
    Japanese labor law and employment regulations
  • Act as HR advisor to branch managers and GMs across Japan
  • Provide HR reporting and insights to CEO and COO for decision-making
  • Lead payroll outsourcing initiatives and the implementation of the global HR database
  • Collaborate regularly with APAC and global headquarters on HR projects and reporting

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of HR experience
    in a company with
    300+ employees
  • 5+ years of experience managing HR teams
  • Strong experience in
    labor law compliance and handling labor/union issues in Japan
  • Hands-on experience with
    payroll and HR operations in Japan
  • Fluent Japanese
    and
    business-level English
    (both required)
  • Ability to work with senior leadership and influence business decisions through HR insights

Preferred Qualifications

  • HR experience in a
    multinational or foreign-owned company
  • Experience leading
    payroll transformation or HR digitalization projects
