About the Role
We are seeking an experienced HR Operations & Attendance Lead to oversee payroll, attendance management, and labor compliance in our Japan entity. This role will play a key part in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processes, compliance with Japanese labor laws, and smooth operation of HR administrative functions. The ideal candidate has a strong background in labor management (労務管理), attendance systems, and communication with external vendors, and is comfortable acting as a bridge between global HR policies and local labor practices. You will report to our HR Director and manage one team member in the Payroll Opts team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead HR operations related to labor management, payroll, and attendance tracking.
- Ensure compliance with Japanese labor law, social insurance, and statutory reporting requirements.
- Manage and improve attendance and time-tracking systems, including leave management.
- Oversee payroll processes in collaboration with payroll vendors and internal finance teams.
- Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding payroll, attendance, and benefits inquiries.
- Implement HR policies and procedures that align with both global standards and local regulations.
- Support HR projects such as system implementation, audits, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Provide regular reporting and insights to management regarding workforce data.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in HR operations, payroll, or labor management in Japan.
- Strong knowledge of Japanese labor law, employment regulations, and social insurance practices.
- Experience working with attendance management systems (e.g., Workday, SAP, or local platforms).
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across global and local teams.
- Business-level proficiency in Japanese (native preferred) and English (written and spoken).

Employment Terms
- Contract Term: Permanent
- Probation Period: 3 months (may be extended up to 6 months)
- Work Location: Headquarters office – Heiwajima, Ota-ku, Tokyo
- (May be subject to change to another location designated by the company)
- Working Hours: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM (8 working hours/day with a 1-hour break)
- Holidays: Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays (including year-end and New Year holidays)
- Salary: Annual salary basis (approx. JPY 8M and above, depending on experience)
- Social Insurance: Full coverage under the Japanese social insurance system

- 労務管理、給与、勤怠トラッキングに関するHRオペレーションのリード
- 日本の労働法・社会保険・法定報告義務の順守
- 勤怠管理・タイムトラッキングシステム(休暇管理含む)の運用・改善
- 給与ベンダーや社内財務チームとの連携による給与プロセスの監督
- 社員からの給与・勤怠・福利厚生に関する問い合わせ対応
- グローバル基準とローカル規制を両立させたHRポリシー・手続きの導入
- システム導入、監査、従業員エンゲージメント施策などのHRプロジェクト支援
- ワークフォースデータに関する定期的なレポーティングとインサイト提供

- 日本でのHRオペレーション、給与、労務管理における 8年以上の経験
- 日本の労働法、雇用規制、社会保険制度に関する強い知識
- 勤怠管理システムの運用経験(Workday、SAP、または国内システムなど)
- グローバル・ローカル双方のチームと協働できる高い組織運営力・コミュニケーション力
- 日本語ビジネスレベル(ネイティブ歓迎)、および英語での読み書き・会話スキル
