Rakuten Symphony Business Governance is responsible for designing operational & governance initiatives, managing a wide variety of strategic projects, optimizing workflows, and enhancing operational efficiency across Rakuten ecosystem.

Position Details
As the Head of Deal Desk & Commercial Oversight, you will be a strategic leader, responsible for optimizing the commercial success of our deals from inception through post-delivery. You will define and implement Deal Desk strategy, processes, and best practices, ensuring alignment with broader organizational goals and tracking key performance metrics for profitability and compliance.
A core function involves Complex Deal Structuring & Negotiation, where you'll lead commercial structuring for strategic deals, develop sophisticated pricing models, and guide negotiations. You'll serve as the primary commercial point of contact for sales on complex terms and facilitate executive approvals.
Crucially, you will drive Post-Deal Commercial Oversight for strategic engagements. This includes proactive alignment with project delivery, monitoring scope against contracts, identifying scope creep, and ensuring Change Requests are commercially reviewed. You'll track contractual obligations, provide commercial support during customer escalations, and ensure vendor/partner commercial adherence.
Your role also encompasses Contract & Supplier Management, collaborating with Legal and Partner Alliance on commercial terms, negotiating contract clauses, and assessing third-party commercial risks. You will enforce Deal Compliance Management, ensuring adherence to internal policies and educating sales on requirements.
Finally, you will lead, mentor, and develop the Deal Desk team, strategically allocating resources for both pre-deal support and post-deal oversight. Your cross-functional collaboration will be essential in aligning sales promises with delivery capabilities, ensuring long-term commercial success and value realization.

Minimum Qualifications:
・5 year experience in contract management/contract performance management/deal desk type of roles.
・Previous experience in B2B tech sales with proven analytical and business skills
・Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
・Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
・Legal field related bachelor's degrees
・ Language Skills:
English- Business Level
Preferred Qualifications:
・7-10 year experience in contract management/contract performance management/deal desk type of roles.
・Previous experience in B2B telco sales with proven analytical and business skills
・Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
・Proven track record of executive communication abilities
・Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
・Legal field related master degree and business/management related degree or certification

Japanese- Business Level
