The Head of Presales Engineering – Japan leads the regional pre-sales engineering organization, ensuring the delivery of high-impact, customer-focused technical support to both customers and partners.
The role oversees all pre-sales technical activities across the sales cycle, including solution design, product demonstrations, proof-of-concept (PoC) initiatives, and technical advisory engagements.
Working in close partnership with sales, product management, and engineering teams, the leader ensures customer requirements are clearly understood and translated into optimized, value-driven solutions that improve customer satisfaction and drive market expansion.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Strategic Direction
Lead, coach, and grow the pre-sales engineering team
Define and implement regional technical support strategies
Establish team goals, KPIs, and performance metrics
Ensure alignment between technical initiatives and business objectives
Plan and manage departmental budgets and resource allocation
Technical Execution & Operations
Collaborate with regional stakeholders such as Bid Management, CTS, and Product teams on complex and hyperscale projects
Oversee all pre-sales technical activities and customer engagements
Develop and standardize technical workflows, tools, and methodologies
Review and approve advanced or high-risk technical solutions
Handle escalations and resolve critical technical challenges
Business Growth & Market Engagement
Partner with sales leadership to support strategic and high-value opportunities
Build and maintain strong technical alliances and partnerships
Represent the company at executive-level meetings, conferences, and industry events
Provide technical input to influence product strategy and roadmap decisions
Drive consultant-led and customer-facing technical engagement initiatives
Talent Development & Team Enablement
Recruit, onboard, and retain high-performing technical professionals
Design and deliver ongoing training and professional development programs
Conduct performance reviews and support career progression
Encourage collaboration, knowledge sharing, and adoption of best practices
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related discipline)
8–12 years of relevant industry experience with strong expertise in power or thermal solutions
Solid understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, ideally in data center infrastructure
Knowledge of critical power systems and applicable industry standards
Proficiency with MS Office tools (Excel, Word) and AutoCAD
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans
Strong commercial, financial, and business acumen
Excellent communication and presentation skills at executive level
Proven experience leading, developing, and managing technical teams
