Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Hands-On Rust Engineering Team Lead to lead a team of talented engineers while remaining deeply involved in architecture, design, and development. This role combines technical leadership, people management, and hands-on engineering in a fast-paced cybersecurity environment.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Technical Leadership (Hands-On)
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and selected front-end components for our platform
- Lead the implementation of high-throughput data ingestion and processing pipelines for large-scale security data
- Integrate AI-driven analytics capabilities and optimize system performance, reliability, and scalability
- Architect and develop APIs and integrations with a wide range of IT and security tools
- Ensure robust security design, secure coding practices, and compliance with industry standards
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex, cross-stack production issues
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software engineers, including onboarding, coaching, and career development
- Drive technical excellence through code reviews, design reviews, and engineering best practices
- Own technical decision-making, architecture discussions, and trade-off analysis
- Collaborate closely with product, research, DevOps, and security teams to deliver end-to-end solutions
- Plan and execute sprint goals, manage technical debt, and ensure predictable delivery
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
- At least 4 years of experience as a Team Leader.
- 5+ years of professional software development experience, including hands-on experience with Rust
- Strong fundamentals in computer science, cybersecurity, and networking
- Proficiency in Rust; familiarity with Go, Java, and C++ is an advantage
- Experience with cloud platforms, containerization, and microservices architectures
- Strong understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases
- Experience with real-time data processing, analytics frameworks, and modern front-end technologies
- Expertise in data pipeline technologies, the ELK stack, and Apache Kafka
- Familiarity with observability tools such as Datadog and Vector
- Proven experience building high-throughput, low-latency systems serving millions of users
- Experience with SIEM platforms and machine learning applications in cybersecurity
- Familiarity with big data technologies, time-series databases, and data warehousing solutions
- Knowledge of GraphQL, infrastructure-as-code tools, and service mesh technologies
- Contributions to open-source projects or relevant technical publications
- Data pipelines and ETL processes
- Distributed systems (Kafka, Flink/Spark, Redis)
- ELK stack for log ingestion, search, and analytics
- Cloud-native and serverless architectures
- API design, versioning, and governance
- Performance tuning and scalability for large-scale systems
- Security best practices (OAuth 2.0, encryption, data protection)
- DevOps, CI/CD, and SRE practices
