Who we are looking for
The SSIM Japan Investment Operations – Performance Evaluation Group is responsible for daily, monthly and quarterly fund performance evaluation for financial institutions, pension funds and investment trust funds. To cover a wide range of customers, the team conducts delivers a high volume of performance and analysis reports within a limited timeframe for deadline. You are expected to have a strong team player spirit to contribute to the achievement of team goals aligned with corporate strategy, as well as strong communication skills and a solid professional mindset to influence and drive changes to achieve better operational processes. You will report to Performance Evaluation Group manager of Japan Investment Operations. You will interact with various key stakeholders including Client facing teams, Investment teams, Reporting team, Vendors, Overseas Operation teams, external fund auditor, etc. This role can be performed in a hybrid model, where you can balance work from home and office to match your needs and role requirements.

Key Accountabilities
- Take roles in performance measurement and analysis initiatives for assigned funds, with a strong focus on process improvement to enhance operational efficiency.
- Engage in effective communication with stakeholders and proactively manage relationships with internal and external parties.
- Influence and drive changes that align with global standards while considering Japan's local regulatory and client-specific requirements.
- Nurture the team with professional expertise in performance measurement, risk analysis, operational processes, global alignment, and vendor management, and provide timely and constructive performance feedback.
- Set up and update tools for performance measurement and custom benchmark calculation according to new fund setups and changes to existing funds, closely collaborating with client service team, portfolio managers, fund onboarding team and other relevant teams.
- Ensure compliance with Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS) by monitoring regulatory changes and updating performance measurement tools as needed.
- Perform root cause analysis and deep dives to improve client experience and resolve operational issues and challenges.
- Provide quantitative data to regular questionnaires for consultants, publicly-offered projects and RFP etc.
- Respond to investor inquiries related to portfolio performance in a timely and professional manner.
Experience, Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
- University Bachelor or above
- Strong team player by working closely with the team manager to support the performance evaluation group management, fostering a cooperative and high-performing team environment.
- 5+ years professional experience in performance evaluation and client reporting of financial services especially investment management experience preferred
- Advanced application skills such as Excel and Excel VBA, Access
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communications and organizational skills with key internal and external stakeholders
- Self-motivated professional with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities and schedules to meet deadline while maintaining attention to detail for data integrity and error correction
- Familiarity with the asset management industry and relevant regulations / association rules
- Language skill: Native Japanese (required) and Business English (preferred)
- Experience or knowledge of performance measurement and analysis
- Knowledge on portfolio management and benchmark indexes
- (Preferred)CMA or equivalent knowledge
- (Preferred)Usage experience of the following applications such as Bloomberg, Factset, Barra, Bloomberg PORT, T-Star and T-Star/GX
