Tokyo Square Full time

We're in search of a Business Development Manager to join the Square Japan Partnership team. Our mission is to create an ecosystem connecting partners and sellers, enabling them to build a business on Square. You'll be the face of Square in Japan, helping establish local partnerships by negotiating deals across various partner types. Your role involves partnership sourcing, prospecting, negotiation, and collaborating with internal teams to expand our partner network. Reporting to the Partnerships Lead, Japan in Tokyo.

Square Japan partners include organizations across banking, financial services, telecommunications, and other partner types, using Square API integrated products like accounting, tax, and more. You'll be instrumental in delivering valuable financial services to small businesses, driven by positive outcomes for customers and partners.

Join our dynamic team, bringing your best practices in business development to drive growth. You need to understand the various ways channels/platforms can partner with Square, both technically and from a business perspective.

You will:

  • Build and develop the Partnerships program in Japan.
  • Sign new Japan-based channel partners and product partners to enhance our ecosystem.
  • Develop plans to boost growth for partners and sellers.
  • Become a Square product expert, advocating Square's partnership strategy and platform ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to identify and engage potential partners.
  • Work with global functions like Sales, Account Management, and Marketing to ensure the success of Square's Japanese Sellers.
  • Source, sign, and launch partners to benefit Japanese sellers and drive Square's growth.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external partners.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in strategic business development and partner management.
  • Track record in closing deals with channel partners and generating leads.
  • Experience in negotiating deals with partners in Japan.
  • Expertise in handling technology-based discussions with partners.
  • Experience developing partnership strategies at tech-driven companies in Japan.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with senior leaders.
  • Project management experience with a focus on goal achievement.
  • Strong communication skills in Japanese and English.

Preferred:

  • Experience in banking, financial services, telecommunications in Japan.
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams to integrate partners with Square.
  • Understanding of API integration maintenance.
