: Business OverviewThe Technology Platforms Division (TPD) is responsible for building and operating the infrastructure and ecosystem platforms which power the Rakuten Group. Our mission is to provide our Rakuten Cloud and Ecosystem Platforms which will deliver Core Value to accelerate the growth of Rakuten Group services.
Department Overview
Our department, the B2B BSS Business Development Department (B2BBD), develops and maintains the BSS platform for MNO, VOICE, and ISP services, and is in charge of development and maintenance of IT infra (on-premise and cloud environment) for BSS platform.
Overall Position Details
The department operates on a wide range of platforms, from physical servers to virtual environments. As an Infrastructure Engineer for servers and networks under B2BBD, your responsibilities will be in-line with the following daily operational tasks:
Design and deploy servers with an understanding of non-functional requirements (availability, capacity/performance, continuity).
Design and deploy server security architecture
Perform server and log monitoring, log analysis, incident and response, and change management.
Analyze logs and packet captures, and troubleshoot systems.
The department operates on a wide range of platforms, from physical servers to virtual environments. Currently, the department's main communication is in Japanese, but the official language of the company is English and documents are prepared in English.
Many of our stakeholders are native English speakers, so we welcome people who want to take on the challenge of communicating not only in engineering but also in English and other languages.
Mandatory Qualifications
Experience working as a server engineer (6 years +)
An ability to understand business requirements and SLAs
Experience working with an Application Team
Server operations skills (based on ITIL, etc.)
Experience designing and deploying operating systems using VMware, Hyper-V, linux, Solaris, windowserver etc.
A skillset based on the following: WAP (JBOSS, apache tomcat); Databases (Oracle, mysql); job scheduler (JP1, Systemwalker); integrated monitoring (zabbix, Hinemos, OpenView), AP framework; security; PHP/Java; EAI/ETL (Asteria, HULFT); design and build
Desired Qualifications
Experience working in the financial and telecommunications industry (ministry jurisdiction)
Work experience in the server domain, as well as around networking (WAN, LB, L3/2 switches, routers, VPN/FW design and implementation, operation, troubleshooting, etc.)
Additional Information
We are aiming to acquire more and more customers, not only for individual customers, but also corporate client. Given this context, our department is also aiming to build a more stable operational system, focusing on in-house production of operations. In opening this position, we seek a team member that will join to help further this goal.
About language use: currently, the department's main communication is in Japanese, but the official language of the company is English, and documentation is prepared in English. Many of our stakeholders are native English speakers, so we welcome people who want to take on the challenge of communicating not only in "engineering", but also in an English-friendly environment where other languages can be spoken and honed.
