Corbion, a global leader in sustainable ingredient solutions, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Sales Director to lead our Functional Food Ingredients business in Japan. This role is key in driving business growth and delivering innovative food preservation solutions that enhance food safety, quality, and sustainability.

Position Overview:
As the Sales Director, you will manage existing business relationships and develop new opportunities within Japan's food industry. Reporting to the Regional Vice President FIS APAC and Managing Director of Corbion Japan, you will be responsible for executing sales strategies that align with global and regional objectives. Leading a dedicated sales team, you will collaborate closely with R&D, innovation teams, and customers to implement cutting-edge value propositions. Your role will focus on expanding market share, building long-term customer relationships, and ensuring overall customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy Execution: Drive and implement sales strategies in Japan, in alignment with global and regional goals.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and motivate a dedicated sales team, ensuring compliance with company policies and local regulations.
  • Customer Focus: Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, identifying and developing new business opportunities.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams (R&D, technical, marketing) to embed new product solutions into the market and ensure seamless project execution.
  • Market Analysis: Analyze market trends, monitor competitor activities, and formulate responses to seize new opportunities.
  • Sales Operations: Lead sales planning, pricing, contract negotiation, and technical support for customers, while overseeing inventory and product quality.
  • Innovation: Scout for new growth opportunities in line with Corbion's sustainable food preservation strategy and lead the introduction of new products to the market.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in B2B sales, ideally within the food ingredients or food industry.
  • Proven experience in managing sales teams, distributors, and business partners.
  • Strong background in food science, chemistry, or microbiology (Master's degree preferred).
  • Expertise in sales planning, negotiation, key account management, and technical sales.
  • Ability to drive cross-functional projects and collaborate effectively with internal teams and customers.
  • Fluent in English and Japanese, with strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and forecasting tools.
