The ALAM Business Analyst will work directly with ALAM Entity Financial Controller, and in close collaboration with the ALJ Finance team, to help analyze ALAM Japan's financial performance. This position will offer a unique experience with enriching contacts with finance personnel between Air Liquide entities and around the world. The Business Analyst will use his or her business acumen to obtain a clear understanding of the events and trends of operational and financial results, and lead the implementation of operational tools to drive business performance. This position will report directly to the ALAM Investments Controller and Entity Financial Controller for ALAM Japan and be based out of Tokyo, Japan.

Responsibilities for this assignment include but are not limited to:

Financial Analysis:

Prepare monthly analysis: Focus on P&L (Sales, Volumes, Cost of Sales, Operating Income) as well as dashboards to facilitate detailed analysis in close collaboration with the Entity Financial Controller

Lead frequent financial reviews with key business stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement and create action plans as well as analysis

Ensure the quality of data and reliability of information streams

Interface with the ALJ Finance Team to monitor the ALAM P&L and Balance Sheet oriented financial information.

Analyze costs and partner with the business to identify and implement actions that lead to cost savings.

Analyze the data collected and log a detailed record of the results.

Analyze material and production costs, prepare regular variance reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs, and proactively work with site personnel to ensure variances are minimized.

Analyze project costs, prepare regular variance reports comparing engineering project control figures to financial information obtained from the ERP.

Assist with budget preparation or inputs into financial models used for investment opportunities.

Consolidation of Entity Investments Projects (Budget, Committed amounts, CIP, etc.) in collaboration with ALJ Finance team and Operations.

Make estimates of new and proposed product costs.

Provide management with reports that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of products or services.

Assist in audits and general ledger preparation.

Coordinate AMCJ physical inventories and the cycle count program as necessary.

Contribute to on-site operational performance reviews and cost analysis with manufacturing teams at AMCJ site to support continuous improvement initiatives

Strategic Business Planning:

Prepare the Target and Reforecast process according to the timeframe

Collaborate with ALAM departments to define and transform financial analysis needs into solutions with a focus on delivering productivity and efficiency improvements.

Ad hoc Studies:

Carry out ad hoc studies if and when required

Support Operations Controller with ad hoc reporting

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or Master degree in business; Bachelor's degree in engineering

3+ years of experience in business analyst or related field

Fundamental analytical and conceptual thinking skills

Experience creating detailed reports and giving presentations

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Microsoft Power BI

Fluent in Japanese and English (verbal and written);

Proficiency in Google Sheets and Google Slides

Strong analytical skills and rigorous

Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Ability to communicate with all levels of management/organization

Transverse management skills

Autonomous and able to work with cross functional teams

Time management abilities
