Business Overview


The Marketing Division is responsible for expanding the Rakuten Group's Membership Value and Ecosystem, which includes more than 70 diverse services.

Operating as a cross-functional unit, we drive strategy and execution in brand, creative, marketing, and membership areas across the organization.

Department Overview


The Group Marketing Department serves as a centralized marketing organization that promotes efficiency and optimization across all marketing functions within the Rakuten Group.


Your mission will be to contribute as a team member to the activation of the ecosystem targeting younger generations (e.g., students, Gen Z) who will lead the future of the Rakuten Group.

This includes all phases from strategy formulation to execution and performance evaluation.

Specifically, your mission will be to proactively plan and promote initiatives to maximize engagement with the Rakuten Ecosystem among younger generations, and to collaborate with relevant departments and external partners.


You will be involved in understanding the needs and behavioral patterns of younger generations across Rakuten Group's diverse services (e-commerce, fintech, mobile, entertainment, etc.), and then building and activating an ecosystem that encourages them to actively use Rakuten Group services and become long-term customers.

Position Details

Support for Execution of Youth Ecosystem Activation Strategy:

Support the execution of ecosystem activation strategies aimed at acquiring, nurturing, and increasing engagement of young customers, based on the overall business objectives of the Rakuten Group.

Collaborate with various business units (e.g., Rakuten Ichiba, Rakuten Mobile, Rakuten Travel, Rakuten Card, etc.) to drive the execution of strategies.

Plan and support the execution of new services, campaigns, and community building initiatives targeting younger generations.
Contribute to the advancement of ecosystem activation measures by capturing trends and technological changes among younger generations.
Support for Extracting Youth Insights and Improving Measures based on Data:
Analyze behavioral data, usage status, and feedback from younger generations to support the extraction of insights.
Support the performance measurement of initiatives, identification of issues, and proposal of improvements based on data.

Contribute to the optimization of content, communication, and service design for younger generations by utilizing A/B testing and multivariate analysis.


Support for Internal/External Collaboration and Partnership Building:

Work closely with various business units, marketing departments, and public relations departments within the Rakuten Group to promote cross-functional initiatives for youth ecosystem activation.

Support the establishment of strong relationships with external partners who influence younger generations, such as educational institutions, student organizations, media, and influencers, and promote joint projects and collaborations.


Support for New Business/Service Launches for Younger Generations:

Support the formulation and execution of strategies for acquiring and nurturing younger generations during the launch of new businesses and services.

Be responsible for market research, competitor analysis, target setting, and KPI design.

Mandatory Qualifications


Ability to collaborate with multiple departments and engage stakeholders: Capable of communicating smoothly with diverse stakeholders and building cooperative relationships to advance projects.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously: Capable of prioritizing and efficiently multitasking.

Planning and execution skills for achieving goals: Able to formulate concrete plans for set goals and execute them steadily.


Ability to drive PDCA cycles and continuous improvement: Constantly monitor work progress, identify and analyze issues, and propose and implement improvement measures.

Excellent communication skills with internal and external stakeholders: Able to build good relationships with people from diverse backgrounds and communicate clearly and effectively.

Desired Qualifications

Basic SQL skills:
Ability to extract data and perform simple analysis.

Marketing knowledge and experience:
Basic marketing knowledge and practical experience.

Data analysis skills:
Ability to read trends from various data and derive insights.

Experience in identifying business opportunities:
Experience in grasping market needs and trends and discovering new business chances.

Experience in planning and executing new initiatives: Experience in launching a project from scratch and being involved in the entire process up to execution.


Negotiation skills with other teams:
Experience in reaching consensus with teams holding different opinions and moving projects forward.
Knowledge of and experience in operating youth-oriented SNS (TikTok, Instagram, etc.), and advertising operation experience.
Experience in planning and operating vertical ads.
