Business Overview


The Marketing Division is responsible for expanding the Rakuten Group's Membership Value and Ecosystem, which includes more than 70 diverse services.

Operating as a cross-functional unit, we drive strategy and execution in brand, creative, marketing, and membership areas across the organization.

Department Overview


The Group Marketing Department serves as a centralized marketing organization that promotes efficiency and optimization across all marketing functions within the Rakuten Group.


This role involves leading the planning, execution, and performance evaluation of initiatives aimed at activating the ecosystem for the younger generation (e.g., students, Gen Z), who will be key to Rakuten Group's future.

Specifically, the mission includes planning and promoting measures to maximize the engagement of the younger generation with the Rakuten Ecosystem, collaborating with relevant departments and external partners, and managing teams and projects.


It is essential to deeply understand the needs and behaviors of the younger generation across various Rakuten Group services (e.g., e-commerce, fintech, mobile, entertainment).

The goal is to build and activate an ecosystem that encourages them to actively use Rakuten Group services and become long-term customers.

Strategy Planning And Execution For Youth Ecosystem Activation


Develop ecosystem activation strategies based on Rakuten Group's overall business goals, contributing to customer acquisition, nurturing, and engagement improvement among the younger generation.

Promote the execution of strategies in collaboration with various business units (e.g., Rakuten Mobile, Rakuten Rakuma, Rakuten Gakuen, Rakuten TV).

Plan and execute new services, campaigns, and community building initiatives targeting the younger generation.
Promote the sophistication of ecosystem activation measures by understanding trends and technological changes among the younger generation.

Extracting Youth Insights And Improving Measures Based On Data

Analyze behavioral data, usage status, and feedback from the younger generation to extract insights.
Conduct performance evaluation, issue identification, and improvement proposals for measures based on data.
Utilize A/B testing, multivariate analysis, etc., to optimize content, communication, and service design for the younger generation.

Internal And External Collaboration And Partnership Building


Collaborate closely with various business units, marketing departments, public relations departments within the Rakuten Group to promote cross-functional initiatives for youth ecosystem activation.

Build strong relationships with external partners who influence the younger generation, such as educational institutions, student organizations, media, and influencers, and promote joint projects and collaborations.

Digital Marketing Support For New Business/Service Launches Targeting Youth

Lead the planning and execution of youth acquisition and nurturing strategies during the launch of new businesses and services.
Responsible for market research, competitor analysis, target setting, and KPI design.

Team Management/Project Leadership (as a Manager Candidate)


Contribute to the guidance, development, and evaluation of team members, as well as the improvement of overall team performance and productivity.

Demonstrate leadership in managing multiple projects simultaneously and promoting them smoothly.

Mandatory Qualifications

5+ years of practical experience in marketing, business development, or related fields. Especially experience in planning and promoting services or products for specific target, or community management experience.
Experience in large-scale project management, or experience in involving multiple stakeholders and leading projects to success.
Experience in performance evaluation, issue identification, and improvement proposals using data analysis tools.
Experience in collaboration and negotiation with various internal and external stakeholders (business units, clients, media, etc.).
Experience in leading teams or projects, or demonstrating equivalent leadership and achieving results.
Logical thinking, problem-solving ability, and strategic thinking.
Business-level English proficiency (TOEIC 800 or equivalent English communication skills). Rakuten Group is a global company with employees of diverse nationalities, and daily communication in English is common.

Desired Qualifications

Team management experience as an official management role (regardless of team size).
Experience in planning and executing marketing, branding, or public relations strategies for the younger generation.
Advanced data analysis skills such as attribution analysis and LTV analysis.

Knowledge and experience in CRM.

Experience using data analysis languages such as SQL.
