About the Role

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and building scalable systems that address complex, real-world challenges in a data-intensive business domain.

You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into robust technical solutions, while also taking ownership of architectural decisions and long-term system quality.

Position Responsibilities

• Design and develop large-scale, high-availability web and backend systems
• Address complex domain challenges such as data asymmetry, workflow digitization, and scalability
• Design systems with careful consideration of algorithmic efficiency and data structures
• Lead technical discussions on architecture, technology selection, and best practices
• Improve system reliability, performance, and development efficiency
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to overall team growth
• Take ownership of code quality through reviews, testing, and CI/CD improvements

Salary

• Annual Salary: From JPY 8,000,000
• Monthly Salary:
  From JPY 667,000
• (Includes fixed overtime allowance for 30 hours)
• Overtime exceeding 30 hours is compensated separately
• Final compensation is determined based on skills and experience

Qualifications

*Required

• Conversational Japanese (mandatory during the hiring process)
• 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and operating large-scale web or backend systems
• Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders across teams
• Strong understanding of software design principles and architectural patterns
• Experience implementing quality-focused development practices (testing, code reviews, CI/CD)
• Solid knowledge of relational database design (normalization, indexing) and scalability considerations

*Preferred

• Experience leading multiple engineers or technical initiatives
• Experience launching new products or services from scratch (0→1)
• Long-term ownership of a single product with continuous improvements
• Mid-to-long-term technical decision-making experience
• Hands-on exploration and production adoption of new technologies

Work Environment

Work Style

• Hybrid work:
• 3 days in office / 2 days remote (in principle)
• Fully remote work is not standard, but individual circumstances can be discussed

Location

• Central Tokyo office (direct station access, multiple lines available)

Work Schedule

• Full flex-time system
• No core hours (work between 7:00–22:00)
• Standard working time: 8 hours per day
