Tokyo Amazon Japan G.K. Full time

The Amazon Fashion team is looking for a self-driven, Business Manager that has a proven track record of delivering results.

In this position you will be responsible for the P&Ls with ownership of a category portfolio working closely with product development, US Business Management team and cross functional teams driving global strategy.

You will dive deep to deliver post seasonal lessons learned and work closely with our planning and in-stock teams to create business plans at category level.

You will ensure our JP customers have access to the the best selection and you will drive top-line performance and profitability for the business.

You will manage business reporting at a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis to review performance against our goals.

You will earn the trust of multiple stakeholders and leaders in both JP and US, and work closely with them on our selection, pricing and availability strategy to enable us to meet our goals.


We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual who is excited by running a business with high autonomy.

This is an IC role, the ideal candidate will have the ability to engage and inspire to drive growth for their categories.

Key job responsibilities

CUSTOMER NEEDS

  • Evaluates flywheel inputs to continually drive quality of the customer experience
  • Review customer feedback, ensuring the team prioritizes customer obsession
  • Identifies opportunities to differentiate our customer experience from the competition

STRATEGY

  • Develops long-term strategies and significantly influences global teams to provide the best selection for customers across JP.
  • Develops and implements action plans based on deep dive of top and bottom line performance
  • Provides recommendation on business opportunities and long term strategy across categories

BUSINESS OPERATIONS

  • Owns the retail P&L for a category, developing plans that drive revenue and margin improvements for the business
  • Deep Dives into the inputs and understands the downstream impact of changes to pricing, selection, and convenience across subcategories
  • Identifies areas that need product development attention and directs team to address issues; acts as escalation point, helping team to resolve conflicts
  • Creates strategic marketing plans that maximizes margin and customer experience
AUTOMATION & PROCESS IMPROVEMENT

  • Identifies and creates long-term solutions that automate or simplify category processes
  • Works with internal cross-category and tech teams to drive multi-system process changes

TEAM DEVELOPMENT

  • Develops team members by providing regular feedback and coaching
  • Helps implement Amazon's best recruiting practices and continuously raises the bar for hiring

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree required, ideally in a business, management, project management, or analytical discipline
  • 5+ years' experience in Project Management
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects (work prioritization, planning and task delegation)
  • Expert knowledge of Excel, happy to deal with large sets of data to identify trends and issues
  • Results oriented, effectively prioritizing and multitasking, able to work with tight deadlines
  • Experience in identifying root causes of problems and necessary actions to eliminate them
  • Japanese and English language capability at business level
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to build SQL queries independently
  • Ability to think and react in a highenergy, fastpaced environment
  • Experience in focusing on process improvement
  • Proven ability to influence others in a business setting
  • A business focused way of thinking and a strong handson, resultsdriven mentality
  • Ability to operate simultaneously and effectively in both tactical and strategic modes
