Business Overview
The Marketplace business is the development of Rakuten Ichiba, Rakuten's founding business.
Since Rakuten's establishment in 1997, Rakuten Ichiba has continued to grow, embodying Rakuten's mission of "empowering people and society through innovation," and has delivered the joy of shopping to users across Japan by creating a system that allows those who are good at business to easily open a store, transcending the limits of the marketplace.
We have been delivering the joy of shopping to users all over Japan.
Today, Rakuten Ichiba is one of the largest e-commerce sites in Japan, with more than 57,000 merchants, more than 1 billion user accounts, and many users.
Department Overview
The Ichiba Advertising Department is responsible for the planning, sales promotion, operation, and management of advertising services used by merchants that open stores on Rakuten Ichiba and brands that sell products on Rakuten Ichiba.
Our mission is to provide effective and easy-to-use advertising products as marketing tools to improve sales on Rakuten Ichiba.
One of the strengths of Rakuten Ichiba's advertising is its unique delivery platform and measurement system, which enables us to measure everything from ad display, clicks, and conversions, and to optimize ad delivery using this data.
This makes advertising not just a cost, but an investment with the potential for growth, and allows you to create a sales plan based on the effectiveness of your ads.

Why We Hire
With the growth of the e-commerce and the increasing need for retail marketing, there are significant opportunities for further expansion as an advertising business.
We are currently focusing on collaboration with external advertising platforms (Google, Meta, etc.) that utilize Rakuten data, and are looking for members who can expand with us.
Main Responsibilities:
- Planning strategies to expand Ad-sales in cooperation with the sales organization
- Planning and operation of advertisements to meet advertisers' KPI
- Management of subcontractors
- Coordination of external needs within the department and formulation of proposals for improvement of advertising specifications
- Management and sharing of specification updates for each platform
Work Environment
Section: 30 members
New grads and those with no experience in the advertising industry are also active.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Be able to communicate in Japanese
- Ability to solve problems with speed
- Flexibility to respond to changes in KPI and external environment
- Ability to understand the needs of advertisers
Desired Qualifications:
- Excel/SQL skills
- Analytical skills
- Experience in advertisement management
- Experience in EC sales
